Invite God to take over
We’ve all been there—facing a situation that feels completely unfair, dealing with people who seem out to get us, or just feeling overwhelmed by opposition. It’s easy to let bitterness take over or want to take matters into our own hands.
But Psalms 7:6 points us toward a different, much more powerful response:
“Arise, O Lord, in Your anger; lift Yourself up because of the rage of my enemies; and awake for me to the judgment that You have commanded.”
When David wrote this, he was under intense pressure. Yet, instead of letting his own anger drive him to retailation, he handed the situation over to God.
This verse reminds us of three powerful truths when we are under fire:
You don’t have to fight every battle. David didn't say, “Watch me take them down." He said, *"Arise, O Lord." Your job isn't to play judge and jury; it's to step back and let God handle the defense.
God sees the unfairness. He isn't indifferent to the "rage" or negativity directed at you. The verse explicitly asks God to move because of what the enemies are doing. He takes note of how you are treated.
Justice belongs to Him. God has already "commanded" judgment. His timing might not match our immediate frustration, but His justice is always perfect, fair, and final.
The next time you feel backed into a corner by difficult people or unfair circumstances, try shifting your strategy. Stop exhausting yourself trying to fix it or fight back. Take a deep breath, hand it over, and trust God to arise on your behalf.
