Veil in Every Episode ⊰ 1x01 ⊱ The Fort
I never thought I'd see the day that the possibility of someone being black was not only considered as funny but then gets explained as a TANNED Hispanic but here we are. Kudos to Madeleine Mantock for always standing up for herself.

On Veil and the Widow...
With all of the EXTREMELY overt slavery and plantation imagery in Into the Badlands, I’mma need everyone to remember that the Widow is a white woman and Veil is a Black woman. Right now!
People are reacting negatively to her betrayal of Veil for a reason. This is not an extension of Whore/Madonna or Madame/Madonna, which needs to be interrogated before it’s applied here because Veil is not another white woman opposite the Widow but, in fact, a Black woman. That is a trope that doesn’t quite work as a criticism because of the nature of Black women’s portrayals in media and their receptions in fandom.Â
Even more, it totally invalidates Black fans who are upset that this epitome of a White Feminist and White Savior literally just sold a Black woman into sexual slavery to further her own cause, all the while professing to be a “savior” come to liberate the downtrodden.Â
Veil gave Tilda the poison as an option last season because the Widow literally kidnapped her and forced her to use her doctoring skills on her, instead of just asking. Furthermore, Veil felt hypocritical vibes coming off of the Widow’s “save every woman in a way that still leaves me in power or a Baron” crusade, which turned out to be absolutely valid.Â
The idea that somehow there aren’t serious and honest reasons for fans, especially Black fans, to be done with the Widow is so obtuse and ridiculous.Â
Stan her all you want but we don’t have to cuz the Widow literally is garbage. An interesting character, perhaps, but complete garbage for what she did to Veil. Trying to argue that she’s just like any other “anti-hero” is so tone deaf and gross. Miss me with that, man.
he felt like a scared animal, not like a clipper, as he stood there in the doorway, holding his arm defensively. the minute he heard movement his eyes flickered as she appeared in the doorway, a frown furrowing her brows and god she was beautiful. if her clinic was a warm summers day, she was the sun itself, the bright soft center of it all. sunny felt the breath stolen from between his lungs, his lips pressed together.
“sunny, isn’t it?” she asked, her frown going from confusion to concern as she stepped closer.  {springtide showers} by @abloodneed
