you know what goes unmentioned in all the speculation about nazimova's assimilation/acculturation in the US and degrees of estrangement from vs. affinity with/attachment to "russian culture(s)" (variously defined), but which i find VERY interesting? the fact that she corresponded with her sister Exclusively In English. that was a choice they both made. why did they make it!
