This may be nitpicking, but idealistic? How is this idealistic? I mean, it certainly isn't romantic either (or at the very least it's some very twisted, unhealthy form of romantic), but the book seems to think it is, so that one makes sense, but idealistic? How is making a bargain to die together idealistic? After all, that word implies that there is some kind of IDEAL you believe in, and I really do not see it here.
