Thinking of reader who is quiet, on their own, not the type to open up, much less interact outside of the field or chores.
You aren't one to talk to others. Not that you're blunt and gruff like Ghost, but you're quiet. Watching as things happen but never actually interacting.
It's not that you dont like your team, of course not, you still say good morning to Price when you both walk in the kitchen at the crack of down to get some coffee. Still hold eye contact with Ghost whem you walk past him on hallways, still sit on the same couch as Gaz and Soap when they're off duty, still huff a breath from your nose at their joking, still watch with fondness when your team laughs and decides to go on a bar that night.
They just don't know that you care, you're so quiet, it's easy to misinterpreted your quiet gaze for discomfort. You don't mean to force the limits of a professional bond, they're a group already, you just enjoy being around.
You barely registered it, but it was a surprise to all them when you and Ghost were going ahead and he was hit. Just enough to make him double down, they didn't taget you, he was the bigger threat. But all, including Gaz, Soap and Price, are shocked when you go feral.
You see red. Ghost is down, Ghost is down and you are here. Ghost is down, your Ghost, your teammate. You passively black out, not remembering anything but the blur of movement from pure instinct to protect those you care for.
The ride back is awkward, at least to you. You feel tired, the adrenaline leaving you with your muscles sore and head fuzzy, Ghost is sat beside you, he doesn't say anything, just casally presses his shoulder and arm against yours.
Gaz, Price and Soap just watch. They are all tired, but not enough to forget how their quiet teammate they were sure were the most level headed out of them go all out like you did. Soap and Gaz reevaluate just how scary you are, Price has this softer look in his eyes, watching as Ghost seems to lean slightly against you, just enough you're pressed between him and the heli wall, just enough you relax and close your eyes, dozing off. It's not always Price sees a new member be so protective of his boys.
