Since were back to talking about racism again, I can’t help but voice my disdain for the new It adaption for stripping Mike of everything that he was and giving it to another yt character. And also I think that Mike and Richie had a very interesting and solid dynamic in the book (both as children and as adults) that was pushed aside, also in favor of another yt character.
The new movies had a R rating and I feel like they really downplayed the hateful and racist nature of Henry and or didn’t try to make it clear enough (without being needlessly traumatizing) so that they could make Henry more “sympathetic”
what’s your thoughts on the head canon that mike read bill’s books, and would pick out the characters that resembled the losers and the books were absolutely terrifying but mike loved them because they felt like home, it felt like home bc home is terrifying but all the losers are there for each other.
Okok this HC makes me EMOTIONAL I adore it so much 🥺 I absolutely think Mike would read all Bills books just to feel connected to him and I also think he'd keep up with the others as well like he'd keep up with Ben's architecture company and buy Rogan and Marsh designs when he could afford it and watch Richie's specials (even tho they kinda leave a bad taste in his mouth bc he knows that's not /really/ Richie's humor) and I low-key think he'd be like Facebook friends w Eddie or something ahdjfal but to him it feels like he's still keeping an eye on his friends and it helps him get through how awful it is staying in Derry
