I profoundly agree with this. I have never watched social media numbers. If I ever do take a shot at YouTube in a serious way (which I do intend to, as I would like to join an oversaturated market of horror narrators to create videos which will be instantly demonetized), I'll watch the numbers only at milestones. Because I believe in what Zyggy says here--if you make a video and it gets one like, that means one other person liked it. If you throw a livestream and you only get a handful of people, those people really wanted to take time out of their days to spend it with you.
