So y'all remember the existence of an Isfān-centric one-shot I was working on, that grew a mind of its own and I got like 2k words on the first segment alone which isn't even the idea I had, just the set-up for it?
I think I'll just publish that segment alone? I don't think I'm capable of finishing it in the near future, and letting what I did write sit in the dark would be a shame I think, because I am quite proud of how it turned out!
Are y'all up for reading it?
Arslan Senki Chapter 150
It's been almost a month, I've thought about this chapter every day, and I'm finally ready to talk about it a bit more. I'll avoid rehashing stuff from other posts/comments. Actually, all I really want to talk about is Isfan's reaction to Kubard's death, so let's just do that.
When Kubard dies, Isfan senses it BEFORE Azrael calls.
This is the moment he hears Azrael and looks up and sees him, and it comes after he what he felt caused him to halt.
And it made me think of another scene from all the way back in Chapter 33:
And so I now have the headcanon that although he didn't know what it was at the time, Isfan sensed the moment of Shapur's death. (Actually... didn't this happen in a doujinshi I own?)
Because I wanted to see it in color!
Wolves, Ears and Tails
An Isfan/Jimsa ficlet series — Arslan Senki canon-divergence AU
@acheneya-blog Rest assured, there is more to come! Please feel free to point out any errors I made while trying to fit all our shared conversations into this little compilation ;-)
@acheneya-blog and I may have cooked a bit too much in the comments and this is what came out of it!
This might come as an unexpected pairing to some but we hope you're ready for our full presentation of evidence as to why they are a perfect match! It might yet surprise you as much as it surprised us.
Please feel free to share your comments, thoughts, hopes and wishes.
The first set of ficlets is currently with a friend of mine for beta-reading. I hope to share it soon! For now, please find below a little teaser:
Shapur survives Atropatene because Kubard, faced with a man who would rather die than retreat, solves the problem by knocking him unconscious and carrying him off the battlefield.
Later, Jimsa ends up responsible for a pair of wolf pups.
He has no idea what to do with them. Isfan does.

Just read the latest chapter of Arslan Senki. Hilmes and Zandeh are in action near the end now? They are getting their redemption arc after all now. 🥹
But okay that one panel of Arslan's face after the news of Kubard's death spread broke my heart. He cares so deeply of his followers. 😭
Also Isfan not believing the news at first because it's Kubard after all and that he couldn't die so easily till he found that it's true. 😭
Anyway it was good to see some of the inner circle of team Arslan this chapter. I was wondering what Farangis, Jaswant, Elam and Gieve were doing.
@tired-reader-writer's ArSen AU is giving me brainrot so I wrote a fun little piece about Isfan's mother. By fun I mean tragic.
