Okay, y/n thought as she walked down the stairs towards the eating room, Polly wouldn't tell anyone, right? The sun had just risen and y/n thought back about what happened last night.
After Polly had fully shut the door a very panicked Isaiah scrambled from under the bed. His eyes were wide with fear and he immediately started to button up his shirt. He looked at his girlfriend who looked equally as scared as him.
"What are we supposed to do? What if she tells your brothers? Fuckin' hell I'm gonna die."
The tall boy paced around the room nervously while y/n stood still, staring at the ground. Where Isaiah was fearing for his life she was afraid of losing him. Her brothers wouldn't hurt her but they wouldn't hesitate to kill her boyfriend. Tears were brimming in her eyes at the thought of what could happen to Isaiah if her brothers did find out.
"Love, you alright?" His soft voice snapped her out of her thoughts. She looked up at him, tears still glistening in her eyes. His eyes softened at the sight of her tears and he gently placed a hand on the side of her face.
"Hey don't cry sweetheart." He cooed, wrapping his girlfriend up in a hug.
"I'm not crying, my eyes are just sweating. From the stress you know." She defended herself with a dry laugh, he chuckled along with her.
They pulled away from eachother when the tears dried up. Isaiah pressed their foreheads together and held her tightly, "No matter what happens when your brothers find out, I promise you we'll be okay. We're gonna stay together and one day-," he held up a finger and pecked her lips softly, "One day I'm going to marry you."
They linked their pinkies and kissed eachother lovingly. After that Isaiah had quikly climbed back through the window, in the fear of her aunt having already told her brothers he was there.
Y/n stood still in the middle of her room; did he really mean that, did he really want to marry her. She truly hoped so.
Now, as she stood in the door opening of the kitchen still in her sleeping gown, watching her aunt Polly eat a piece of bread with jam on it, she really hoped Polly hadn't told anyone.
"Goodmorning y/n, how'd you sleep?" The older woman said with a smirk.
Y/n chuckled lightly, her aunt knew she hadn't slept, much to afraid of losing her boyfriend. She looked at her aunt knowingly and glanced behind her to see if any of her brothers were around.
"Don't worry, they've all gone out already."
The younger girl squeezed her eyes shut, silently praying they weren't doing what she thought they were doing. She sat down at the table and gazed into her aunts eyes, "Please tell me you didn't tell them." At this point she was basically begging.
The woman let out a breathy laugh and shook her head slightly at her nieces antics, "No darling, I didn't tell them anything, that's your job."
Y/n let out a huge sigh of relieve and hugged her aunt who laughed, amused at her actions. When the girl sat back down her aunt pointed at a spot on her collarbone, "But when you do you might want to cover that."
She looked down and saw a dark purple mark on her collarbone, hastily pulling her robe over it, and smiled softly, blushing when she thought about how it got there.
The rest of the day went quite smoothly for y/n, though she often recieved teasing glances from het aunt. Especially when she sat down at Isaiah's desk to assure him none of her brother were going to try and kill him, yet. It wasn't weird to her brothers since her and Isaiah were friends in their eyes. Not knowing what that boy did to her on some nights.
But then, at the reopening of the Garrison, it all went downhill. Y/n had covered up the hickey on her collarbone with makeup, like Polly suggested.
Her brothers clearly didn't see anything. They told her she looked nice and walked with her all the way to the Garrison, joking around like they always did.
They still didn't notice when all of them walked into the renewed bar. She greeted everyone and eventually sat down with Ada and Esme. All with a glass of champagne in their hand, slightly tipsy.
Y/n turned her head to look around the Garrison but snapped her had back when she heard Esme let out a loud gasp and exclaim: "Who gave you that!"
She looked at het sister in law with confusion before she asked: "Gave me what?" And looked at her sister who was gaping at her with shock. Esme pointed at something behind her ear and Ada pulled out a compact mirror from her bag to help her see. When she looked at the spot Esme had pointed y/n cursed under her breath at the sight of another hickey. She thought she only had one.
Glancing at the table where Isaiah, Finn and some other young blinder sat and glared at her boyfriend for a split-second before turning back to the women who were now grinning widely at the younger girl.
The next second she was bombarded with questions,
She shook off all the questions, planning to walk away from the table when John sat next to Ada on the opposite side of the table, "What's goin' on 'ere?" A toothpick was dangeling from his lips as he glanced at each of the women.
Esme and Ada might have wanted to know but they knew if John found out it wouldn't be pretty, so all three women looked at eachother awkwardly.
All it took was one action for all hell to break loose. And y/n being her idiot self caused the outbreak, unknowingly of course.
She awkwardly turned to look into the bar, briefly forgetting that the dark purple mark would become visible. She quikly turned her head back but it was too late, John had already seen it. He reached across the table and grabbed her chin, turning her head before a furious expression appeared on his features. Y/n's stomach dropped at the sight of him.
"Where the fuck did you get that." His voice was low and shaking with anger.
With the pub now being nearly empty the commotion had caught the attention of the other three Shelby brothers, aunt Polly had run away with a much younger guy a bit ago. All four brothers were now angrily staring at the little bruise behind y/n's ear. They all stood fuming in silence before Arthur, John and even Finn, who was younger then her, started shouting. Tommy just stood there glaring at her.
That was when y/n made the second mistake of the night.
Her eyes flickered to the table Isaiah was seated, their eyes meeting for the smallest fraction of a second, he looked scared out of his wits, before she looked back to the table.
The action went unnoticed by everyone but Tommy, who looked where her eyes had been only seconds ago. Then he chuckled darkly and took a long drag of his cigarette.
