Was updating some details on my books on Amazon (I know. I know. These bastards have stolen so much of my money but I still sell most of my books there), and I accidentally saw some recent 1-star reviews - pretty nasty, a couple of them. Those two people had reviewed no other books on Amazon, either, which gives some interesting clues on their motives
This shit makes me never want to publish anything again tbh. People can be such fucking assholes online, can totally see a situation where someone is pissed off at something I say on social media and goes to leave a 1-star review on my books as some sort of gotcha.
Could potentially prevent that by using a pseud but that would also make selling books harder.
Writing online is VERY different now than it used to be; there's so little engagement compared to 10-15 years ago and people are definitely, definitely a lot nastier. Might as well write a bunch of super self-indulgent self-inserts and leave them on my HDD lmao
