If you are making a post complaining about people "being mean" to Ilya by *checks notes* pointing out the flaws in his behaviors and how they negatively impact Shane, and then have to add "but I love Shane" or "but I like Shane too" right there at the end as a weird little disclaimer, maybe you should consider that you maybe, potentially, DON'T actually like Shane.
If you are more offended by people pointing out Ilya's behaviors towards Shane than you are offended BY THOSE BEHAVIORS and by how the narrative (specifically TLG) favors Ilya, then maybe reevaluate your own biases.
Because what it looks like, which is reminiscent of RR, is that Ilya looking good to other people in the fandom means more to you than Ilya treating Shane appropriately and lovingly in the narrative does.
(Inserting my apparently mandatory "But I like Ilya too" disclaimer here)
