it's genuinely so rewarding to rewatch films and study the performances with a much finer focus than you can have during the first watch. with a first time watch, you're absorbing everything all at once and things can slide by, you can't always see every short glance or clenched jaw, especially for more subdued performances. you're intaking so much information, visual, auditory, and the storytelling, sometimes you can only come away with broad strokes of a performance and you miss microexpressions. and when you rewatch, knowing exactly who these characters are from the start, you can see such detail in the performances, it's absolutely enchanting.
