I've been recovering from surgery and such and have not been feeling very inspired to do as much writing as I theoretically have time for. I'm hoping to get at least one or two shorter stories written for @kakairu-rocks Pranks Week, taking a break from the Infinite Tsukuyomi story to do so which, by the way, I can't seem to bring myself to publish one chapter at a time-- I keep worrying I'll get to a place where I need to go back and change something earlier in the story! How do you all manage to do that?
In lieu of new original content, what I can share is some recent acquisitions, starting with this postcard (licensed/official art):
Funny enough, it was kkir fan service-y moments like these in the Wedding Arc that first drew me into shipping Iruka and Kakashi. ShikaTema was my OTP when I first watched the anime/read the manga 20 years ago, but I wasn't into shipping culture at all. A few years ago, I learned that Boruto existed, and discovered the post-Shippuden Naruto material, as well. I was thrilled to see ShikaTema canonized, and then I saw these two and thought, "Aww! I could ship that!" but didn't really think all that much of it until last year when I was drawn into watching Naruto again with one of my kids. They were commenting on Kakashi's and Gai/Guy's antics and said they bet a lot of people ship them. I said that I actually ship Kakashi with Iruka, and something about saying it out loud made something weird click in my neurodivergent brain and they suddenly became a massive hyperfixation to the point of "ShikaTema who?" and now I'm on tumblr and ao3 and I am super cringe, but wow! what a strange turn of events! Wow! what a dopamine rush!
And then being so late to the kakairu game only to learn how popular this ship was at the beginning, and discovering that KAKAIRU IS OLDER THAN MY MARRIAGE?!?!? WHAT????!!!!!!????? IRUKA AND KAKASHI HAVE (unofficially) BEEN TOGETHER LONGER THAN MY SPOUSE AND I HAVE???!!!???
