so basically, backstory, in 5th-6th grade I was way chronically online (mainly just tiktok and roblox, i think) but as of that, I had quite a few online friends. some bad things happened, so my parents took my phone for a bit

then I just found my mom's old phone and used it without her knowledge

then she found out, took that, gave me my phone back but kept it locked in the Samsung kid's mode. and hey, I broke out of that, too ! I guessed the pass code and changed it so I can easily get in and out of that

then idk how but my parents found out about that too, so I got my phone taken away again

then I started using the VR headset that had a browser

after a few months, they gave my phone back and my dumbass immediately texted an old online friend with a screen shot of our tiktok messages to prove it was me

and my parents saw that and went "How were you messaging on tiktok without a phone?" so then they checked the VR. they've given up, basically, but somehow they found a way to lock down how many phone numbers I can text and they control them. also the only social media app I have is pinterest. uhm. here I am with a tumblr account and the phone number thing broke so I basically can text whoever, but I think new phone numbers have to text me first or something? I haven't figured it out, but I can definitely text people that aren't on the approved list

i also laugh every time my mom wont buy me a book because it's too mature or graphic or like one sex scene because like mom I literally am on tumblr where communities get spammed with porn bots when your just trying to look at Skong fanart

so moral of the story, parents, you aren't locking down your child's phone as much as you think you are, and instead you're just making a very creative person who doesn't trust with telling you anything because you get mad or just dismiss it

(Also through all of this, I've had parent controls so my mom can see my screen time and app usage and my phone locks at 10pm-6am)
