People who dare criticize media and fandoms attached to them: *Calls out obvious racism, queer-phobia, sexism, and sexualization of minors in both media and fandom spaces and how enabling this behavior does have real life consequences on a deeper level and people in said fandoms or creators of said media need to do better*
Profic people, Proshippers, and Loli and Shota cons for some reason: “ITS JUST FICTION YOU’RE ADVOCATING FOR CENSORSHIP AND BULLYING. ITS YOUR GUY’S FAULT COMPANIES ARE DOING AGE VERIFICATION ON APPS NOW. IF YOU DON’T LIKE IT THAN SCROLL. FOCUS ON REAL ISSUES AND STOP POLICING FANDOMS. YOU’RE BEING DISRESPECTFUL TO REAL KIDS BY SAYING THIS AND DONT ACTUALLY CARE ABOUT ANYTHING IMPORTANT IN THE REAL WORLD. GET OFF THE INTERNET, ANTI!! (Plus a possible micro aggression)”
The people who call all of these issues out BECAUSE THEY DO CARE about real issues and know that all media is political whether they like it or not and fiction CAN AND DOES AFFECT REALITY with countless historical and current evidence proving this. Who also literally never mentioned wanting the media or topic they were criticizing banned they just want better representation and creators to be more educated on how they portray certain groups that very much exist and are often never heard, or are misrepresented , and or are villainized in media both intentionally or unintentionally due to ignorance and bigotry:
Apparently to certain people “Criticism = Bullying”.
This is why certain fandoms aren’t safe for POC (ESPECIALLY Black people). Or queer people who don’t fit their worldview of what it means to be LGBTQ+ and don’t agree with them on everything relating to Queer media or fandom spaces and have boundaries on stuff like shipping ships that erase a specific character’s identity that is canon and made explicitly clear for a reason. Only for certain “fans” to ship them with a character part of a demographic they would never be with because of their identity or more specifically their sexuality.
These people literally can’t stand the term “Representation Matters” because it means they can’t just do whatever they want with a character who’s part of a minority that constantly gets erased or rewritten to be more white or heterosexual or cis normative without being called out or criticized when they participate in it.
And the weirdos and worst of this demographic just want an excuse to sexualize minors and literal kids or ship and promote incest relationships because they’re “Not Real.” Like that makes this shit any less weird or okay just because it’s fiction, when a lot of the time but not all the time fiction DOES reflect reality.
Mind you most of these people are grown ass adults and not kids, some are but I’m specifically talking about the grown ass adults who should know better than this.
Like you people need to GROW UP. You’re not a fucking teenager anymore, so stop acting like one who doesn’t want to understand anything nuanced. Hell actual fucking teenagers are often smarter than you people.
You can preach “Fandom Etiquette” all you want but that shit seems to fly out the window when people especially people of marginalized groups dare to set boundaries on things that very much affect them in real life even through fiction.
All media is political and affects reality one way or another, GET OVER IT.
