(a bit nervous asking this on my normie blog but fuck it we ball)
Umm okay so I'm a transcharacter/IRL/fictive of the Snatcher from a hat in time and uh. I guess some general tips for like. presenting myself would be helpful
I dress very alt already and in all blacks/purples, I'm actively dying chunks of my hair purple on occasion, but I don't really have a way to buy things on my own so it has to be um. not suspicious? I guess?
(Also if you have any tips for how to get the confidence to act like source that would be great.... it's nerve-wracking!!!!)
(sorry this is so long oh my god my tumblr lags so bad when I type I hate my life)
Well, the glowing eyes are totally a thing, but I don't know how non-suspicious that would be, unless it's Halloween. Have a look at "cosplay eyes."
Tops and bottoms of the same color, a close fit, and cuts where, for example, pants end lower help create a longer silhouette. (Some people find this effect a bit of a confidence boost too.) I feel like the fashion style "ouji lolita" would be a good fit, if you don't already know it and it isn't too suspicious.
Maybe sleek hair + very fluffy scarf, even though it seems like the shape comes from his hair when he was a human? Going hard on the scarf being fluffy and everything else being streamlined would also give it an exaggerated look that could be a bit cartoony or larger-than-life.
I'm reading that he wears a mailman hat at some point, but I don't know if that's the aesthetic you're going for.
I'm not surprised this character takes a lot of confidence. There's the confidence to act different, the confidence to be over-the-top and charismatic, and the confidence to be, well, not very nice. I'm not saying you necessarily should do the last one, but maybe you can find a situation where someone deserves it or thinks it's fun to be messed with somewhat.
Either way, it's about getting to a place where the arbiter of approval/disapproval/good/bad isn't from the social world outside yourself. Like seeing how arbitrary or full of it a lot of judgments people make are and how that's something they will need to move away from in their own "character development." It can be specific individuals, and it can also be like a "social ghost." For example, there are lots of people on the internet making judgments by saying "tl;dr," but it's not a worry that could have come from anything about my blog.
I'm not condoning religious people being jerks either, but it can be a good example of how moving the "social ghost" internally and separating it from what people outside yourself think lets you say ruder things. It could just as well be a philosophy or a fictional character instead of Jesus, as long as you can truly believe in its rightness enough.
The longer life goes on, the more examples we see of how silly or misguided people's judgments can be. When you run your life on your own, that also gives you a deep confidence, but I know that may not be easy or soon. My teenage years felt long enough before even getting to the 21st-century person-with-issues extended adolescence.
I'd like to be a charismatic character myself, but I am autistic and often seem weird. It works better if you're willing to lean into the "comically abrasive" range and learn from "class clown" types who are comfortable with negative attention. After all, The Snatcher probably does get negative attention. It is hard for a lot of people, including me. If you can hang around with someone who gets even more not-totally-positive attention than you would, you'll have more space to experiment.
