OC Dynamics Month Day 3: siblings/tragic
Attempt #3 to catch up with OC Dynamics Month! I have a few sets to choose from, but I haven't done one of these for Ashlin's List yet, so this post is about Irina reminiscing on her two sisters, Anya and Katia, while in the bedroom of another set of tragic siblings! Circa season 2 or so, here's a quick scene from her POV.
I have quoted this song before, but it just came on, and.. it's just so.. me.
Rakkaus on vähissä, rahat on lopussa Mikään ei ikinä mene niin kuin sadussa Mut ei tää hätiä, mä selviin kaikesta Polvet on sökönä mut kuitenkin oon elossa Mä otan kupin kahvii, hengittelen syvään Tänään mä en mieti enempää
Mä pidän juhlat mulle Sen kunniaksi että täällä vielä oon Mielettömät juhlat mulle Mun lempimusaa läpi illan raikukoon Rappukäytävään laitan lapun että jotenkin pärjätään Mä pidän juhlat mulle Sen kunniaksi, että oon joskus onnellinen
Irina - Juhlat mulle
Sama ruotsiks räppiä.. Wait, wrong song. Sama englanniks:
Love is scarce, I'm out of money Nothing ever goes like in fairytales But no worries, I'll get through everything Knees are busted but I'm still alive I'll have a cup of coffee, take deep breaths Today I won't think any more
I'll have a party for myself To celebrate me still being here Awesome party for myself May my favorite music blare throughout the evening In the stairwell I'll leave a note saying I'll survive somehow I'll have a party for myself To celebrate me being happy sometimes

Irina
July Doodles!
I'm getting distracted (I'm meant to be looking for something in particular) but:
'[Hilmes] had previously lived in exile across various lands—Rum, Maledania, Galatia, Zalf, Kazar, and Dastad—yet, ironically, he had never visited Lusitania.'
Dropping this here so I remember to come back and properly try to figure out where these places are.
Rum I assume is drawn from the Sultanate of Rum? I need to check the original Japanese for the spelling of these as this is a Google Translation of a Chinese fan translation which can sometimes warp names quite a bit.
Kazar might be based on the Khazar Khaganate?
Galatia is likely this.
Maledania... Mauritania maaaaybe? Unless the Japanese puts it closer to Macedonia.
I dunno about Dastad and Zalf. Any thoughts?
Also, this:
'a thought crossed Silvermask's mind: had Militsa been a man—had she become the King of Maryam and commanded its armies—perhaps the kingdom would not have fallen.'
This actually feels kind of progressive for Hilmes. Though it's based on Irina's words about how Militsa resisted the Lusitanian invasion and held Akleia for two years, which is undoubtedly what Arakawa drew on in her portrayal of Militsa and the fall of Akleia.
