The weather was decent, cool but surprisingly refreshing for an evening in early February. Social events weren’t always Maya’s forte, especially ones of this magnitude. Usually, in the face of social interactions, she forgets how to be a person. Suddenly, she’s a fleshy shell, unable to muster the right words. And after devouring various food items from the food trucks lined side by side, Maya takes a small breather, standing in line to get an ice water. While she waits, the brunette digs through her purse, pulling out a packet of tissues and her emergency deodorant. Another telltale sign of Maya’s inevitable anxiousness, excess sweating. She plucks some tissues from the pack, beginning to shove them underneath her arms, dabbing at her armpits.
That’s when she turns, her large head of curls bouncing in place. Her dark gaze lands on Ira, evident amusement across his expression. “Dead body guy!” Maya says in greeting, a smile gracing her lips. She then holds out the deodorant stick, “You need some?”
