Yugioh Ships Crash Course: Part 10 of 100
Heeeeeeyyyy, let's tackle some Marik ships, yeah?
Powershipping: Marik Ishtar x Seto Kaiba
The two modern characters that are connected strongly enough to the Millennium Rod that they can use it. And what does the Rod represent? Absolute power. Two boys with control issues fighting over a Rod? Yeah, I'm down for that.
Changeshipping: Marik Ishtar x Duke Devlin
Two fabulously stylish and handsome characters that enter as villains and leave as friends. I guess you could say they had a change of heart, huh? (Wait, is there a name for Duke x Marik x Ryou? Am I just forgetting it???) I genuinely love these two together, even just as besties. I think they'd be good for each other.
Irateshipping: Marik Ishtar x Joey Wheeler
Named because I think both characters are a bit irritable, maybe? This is fascinating because of their canon history together, and I've seen a great comic by @wisyhana that teases all of that angst so deliciously.
Lavendershipping: Marik Ishtar x Siegfried von Schroeder
This might look like a crack ship to you, but just take one minute to think about it, and you just know that these beautiful boys are connecting on a deep level if they ever meet. A ship championed by @nyanbinaryrose and I am proud to have written one of its few fics.
Thiefshipping: Marik Ishtar x Yami Bakura
I don't know how much of this ship's popularity can be attributed to YGOTAS, but a lot of people discovered it that way, I think. I think this ship is at the heart of the BakuMarik cult that usually encompasses all five of those characters.
Citronshipping: Marik Ishtar x Thief King Bakura
Personally I think I actually prefer this one over Thiefshipping if I'm going for a more serious vibe, plus it gives you the possibility of Marik being in the actually past part of Millennium World, which would have been really cool.
Goldshipping: Marik Ishtar x Yami/Atem
I'm pretty sure the gold in this ship name is referring to how much jewelry they both wear, but that's just my guess. I like this ship in the context of Marik coming to terms with his past and the tombkeepers and all of it. He's just happy and at peace.
