Harpy Lore

Harpies come in many different shapes and sizes, females are the majority (70/30) but are known to take human mates (children born this way are still full harpy). They can shapeshift from human to harpy form by simply willing it, however if they are in their human form, and experience any extreme emotions (furiousness, terror, sorrow, ecstasy) they can revert back to harpy form.

In olden times, Harpies were known to help witches create potions and make them in their own special way. Now a days, Harpies make potions in a different way, making non-alcoholic drinks. Every harpy has a type of drink (teas, coffees, sodas even) that they use as a base to create potions that heal, enhance, or hurt. But can only use that base.

Depending on what bird the harpy is based off of, will determine their mating rituals, some personality traits, and how intelligent they are.

They can live for almost 1000 years, if they’re careful.

Ioana’s life

Io was born in the small(ish) town of Jimbolia, Romania to a harpy mother and father (slightly rare). She was raised Christian (ironically) and lived most of her childhood in her birth town.

She lived through Romania’s dictatorship, and left after it ended. Her parents still live in Jimbolia to this very day.

Io moved to America 1990, and became a citizen before getting pick up by Operation Unicorn to become P.U.F.F. exempt. She gained many scars working for that God forsaken place.

After that, she decided to live a “normal life”, staying as far away from the supernatural as possible. Until, of course that all changed.

One day, on one of her runs, she spots Swamp Skippers(also non-canon) rearing to attack children at a playground. While Ioana never wanted to get back into the madness of the supernatural, she couldn’t let innocent people get eaten because of it.

Before the Swamp Skippers could do anything, she attacked, first with a tiny .308 hand gun, but after that didn’t do much, she went with her bare hands.

After killing the monsters, and getting a wonderful visit from Agent Franks and Mires, she meets Milo and Julie who ask her to join MHI. And she gladly accepted.

Unbeknownst to all of them, she was a monster herself.

Personality and Powers

Io is a very sweet girl, gentle and kind, but scares easy. She didn’t have any friends before MHI, which she accepted solemnly.

She loves shiny things, anything shiny, from paper clips to jewels, anything shiny she’ll try to take or buy, making her a little bit of a hoarder and kinda poor.

Loves makeup, fashion, and anything that can make her look more feminine. She is constantly asked by people who talk to her if she’s a man or woman (she usually responds with “I’m a woman, don’t worry, I have boobs and they’re all natural, heh,”)

Io is extremely smart, though she has trouble articulating what goes on in her head

Being a Magpie Harpy, she can mimic people’s voices, man or woman.

She’s a pretty good tracker, and can find pretty much anything if she knows what she’s looking for

Her potion making base is tea, if you ask her to make you a certain potion, not only will she make it to the best of her ability, but will also make it in your favorite type of tea.

Being a harpy, she’s pretty strong and fast(though really only in the air).

Weaknesses

Fire (feathers are very flammable)

Water (can’t swim very well)

Scares and startles easy (Franks scares the shit out of her)

Has trouble voicing her opinions on missions, even if they’re good suggestions

Petty to people she doesn’t like or even people she’s scared of

Emotional (can stuff it most of the time though, which can be worse at points)

Hates how masculine she looks, making her very self conscious.

Bit of a hoarder

Because of her lazy eye, she has really no sense of depth, and is a bit of a klutz.
