I am addicted with how this series is a long-drawn corruption arc of our main character, and there’s this bit at the end when John Kearns sees himself in Will Henry and vice versa, but he sees it far too late in a seminal moment in the book. And then— I love how it was placed after Will’s infection. I love how it was placed after Kearns baptized him as his own. I love how it was far after Will was in the place of the unclean. I especially loved the parallelism between the propagation of the magnificum and Will’s fall. god damn it.

There is an amazing amount of parentification here, especially warthrop = new dad (i mean, will’s dad did promise to bring him to a faraway isle... and it took dad 2.0 to complete the wish 👀👀 ... in other words, the entire parentification analogies/hinting is just Will highlighting the failure of the adults in his world from actually protecting him ya kno)
