Operating under the idea that Mr. Dispatcher, Robert Robertson the Third, actually has powers that revive him after death.
The first time he died was before he became Mecha Man. Before his dad died and before he picked up the gauntlet of death that is his familys lineage.
Dear old dad had always had a knack for pushing his son too far. Robert suspects it was part of the way he showed love, preparing him for the hell that was being a powerless hero in a hulking tin-can, with training lessons that stretched for days on end, late night study sessions on up to date supervillains and hero’s alike, and so forth. He didn’t have much time to be a regular kid, but when your dad is the reason the city can sleep peacefully at night, an empty dinner table is the least of your worries.
Robert still remembers the first and only time his dad ever said he was proud of him, however. Always looking to impress and show his dad that he could handle whatever Mecha Man could, he had agreed to another ruthless day of training. It was hot- 100+ degree heat in the midst of summer in California kind of hot. His dad had brought him down to the docks to practice infiltration, something that he struggled with still. Robert wanted to be all brawn and little brain back then, convinced that fists could do all the talking. His dad had laughed and clapped him on the shoulder as he steered them both into the abandoned building, shaking his head.
“That thinking is what gets you killed, Robbie. One day, all you might have is your brain, and it’ll keep you alive a lot longer than your fists can.”
Robert remembered scoffing, rolling his eyes in pre-teen angst with a grin. What world would ever exist that his dad wouldn’t be there to save the day?
Training had commenced as usual, but a little more… intense, than usual. His dad didn’t often train him with the mech present, but today was different he guessed. His main objective was to cross the warehouse without being caught. Maybe that was supposed to be some elements of evasion, but Robert didn’t think he took that part seriously. All he knows is that he was sweating his ass off as he clumsily dodged beam after beam from the other end of the warehouse, dodging and weaving between crates that splintered and exploded when he forgot to hide the brown fluff of his hair when peaking.
He was panting, wiping the sweat that rolled down his forehead into his eyes and vision swimming in an out. He’d have to finish this fast if he didn’t want to pass out from heat exhaustion, or worse. A gleam from the metal stairs on the wall to his right caught his attention, fixed to the roof by steel cables and leading to a cat walk that would get him to the other side of the building much quicker than this game of cat and mouse. With a triumphant smirk, he gathered up some broken pieces of wood on the ground and attempted the most cliche move of throwing it behind coverage further away from him to draw his fathers attention and proceeded to book it to the stairs when he hears the explosion behind him. The dust and noise will give him time to get up and a third of the way down the catwalk he guesses, almost slipping on the second step up.
Robert knows now that his father wasn’t so easily tricked. Once he had reached the top of the stairs and started running, he heard a whiz of energy and heat blast past his face, severing one of the cables that kept the platform suspended. The entire thing groaned and shook, but held fast. That’s all Robert needed to keep gunning it, yelling at his dad to “keep up!”
Then, another blast, cutting a jagged hole in the platform in front of him, activating a sharp pang of fear in his chest as his movements faltered. He rights himself to best he can, urging his body to move faster so he can jump and clear the new obstacle. For a moment, he’s weightless, bracing for his landing, when one foot meets solid steel and the other meets… nothing.
His body jerks back, eyes wide as he realizes he’s falling backwards through the hole, not reacting quick enough to reach a hand out to grab the railing, and plummets. For a moment, the wind rushing past his body feels nice, cool against the heat that clung to him, and then there’s darkness.
And then, he remembers waking up. There’s an ache in his body and a dull throbbing in his skull, but nothing else. He blinks away the sleep and looks around, his childhood bedroom coming into view the more he wakes. Sitting up is easy enough, though his joints creak in complaint, and he spots his dad sitting in a chair off to the side.
The air stills as his dad looks up when he hears shuffling and for a moment, Robert expects another lecture. He already feels the word sorry forming in his throat when his dad suddenly throws his arms around him, hugging him tight. Any voice dies right then and there, scruching his brows tight at the form of physical affection and tentatively pats his dad on the shoulder.
When his dad pulls away, his eyes might be a little misty, but he sports a grin, eyes alight in what Robert can only describe as admiration. It looks a little weird on him, unsettling in a way when someone has just figured out something hidden away from them.
“Robert,” his dad says, hands finding their way to his sons shoulders and giving them a powerful squeeze, “you’ll be unstoppable one day. When the suit becomes yours, you will be what your grandfather and I could never be.” It’s cryptic but it’s praise, and Robert is preening under the sudden attention.
“I am proud of you, son.”
(and when Chase becomes suspicious later on when Mechman starts treating Robert more and more like a solider and tries to lecture Mecha Man, he’s feels his heart sink at the look that comes over him. Mecha man shrugs and turns away, continuing to fiddle with his tech with a ghost of a smile. “A phoenix must burn to emerge.”)
People on twitter who said "if you cut invisigal from the z-team you didnt understand the rehabilitation part of the phoenix programme"
First of all. The WRITERS dont know how a rehabilitation programme works
Second of all. Even if you cut visi she can still become a hero if you were nice enough to her
Third of all. She went behind all of her teams backs. Many used the defense of letting flambae back after attacking Robert but they had actual personal beef and you know there were people to prevent Rob from getting his ass roasted. With Visi she doesnt even fucking tell anyone until Robert sees her on his computer! Visi needed. And i mean NEEDED to suffer some kind of consequence for causing Chase to have to use his powers to save her from her own stupidity. Her teams trust in her was broken, in order for her to prove she can come back is fight for her friends again which she only really does IF you romance her/are super nice to her
Im sorry the whole concept of this game with rehab and redemption is stupid when they misunderstand what it looks like when an individual regresses and makes the same mistakes. Visi doesnt feel like she wanted to make a change and was fighting herself it just felt like she was giving up and finding any excuse to be with Robert and not have to change much. AND! Visi doesnt really try to redeem herself until she starts falling for Robert pisses me tf off dispatch writers DIE
Coupe, Prism, fucking all of them actually make some attempt at change even with the sabotaging each other thing. They shit on Robert but he genuinely helped them make a difference by believing in them and then you have visi who took that as open invitation to persue him. Male writers tell me why do you genuinely write women this way
Anyways if invisigal and mechaman got together i do not think theyd last as a couple but thats besides the point.

Can you do a Invisigal x f!reader where they make out after an argument. Add a little spice too😆
PAIRING: Invisigal x Female Reader
SUMMARY: You two (or you..) seemed to have a little argument but what is a best way to forgive each other with a make out session
TAGS: Making out, Bisexual Icon, Dumbass argument, Swearing
A/N: I know this girl will pull us in mid argument but I just can't prove it..
"You know you're a real piece of shit, always taking off in the middle of conversation when I'm trying to talk to you!" You shouted while Invisigal just glared
A lollipop in her mouth as listened to you yap, sooner her gaze travelled somewhere else as you continued to argue
"Hello!? This is what I'm talking about! You're always so inconsiderate, always not paying attention when someone is talking to you— Mhp!"
Invisigal had enough of your chit chat, throwing her lollipop away as she decided to shut you up by pulling you in and kissing you straight on the lips
Sooner or later she backed you up against a wall while you tried to pry her off for her to grabbed your wrist and pin it against the wall
Now you two where fully making out with each other
"Mhmm— ah" Small and soft sounds filled the room as Invisigal deepened the kiss
She sneakily slid her hair up to your hair, giving a little pull causing you to gasp as she forced her tongue inside your mouth as you moaned
You gave out a little curse, your oxygen lacking as well as Invisigal as she pulled herself back
You both catching your breaths as she kept her hands pinning yours
"That got you to shut up" She smirked, causing you to groan in annoyance, trying to get yourself out of her grip but turned away
"Shut the fuck up and kiss me again" You snarled

spoilers for dispatch.
taking about possible queerbait.
Tl:dr. I'm sick of queerbait and I hope dispatch doesn't do it too.
I feel the "Invisigal SA'ed Robert" discourse that floated around on tiktok and twitter stems from a very watsonian reading of characters' actions and really unfairly acts as if the many brushed over moments of crossed boundaries and lowkey sexual harassment & assault in the game are actual features instead of bugs of the game from a writing team that has questionable view on sexual harassment as a writing device.
I've seen so many people say they dislike Invisigal because she sexually assaulted Robert in that locker scene, which is what happened, but I feel like that misses the crucial part of how what she did was not and never was intended to be that. It supposed to romantic, the crescendo of her ongoing character arc, a show of how Courtney is still conflicted, jaded, and bad at emotions but still wants to show she cares about Robert and therefore redemption despite being kicked off. She wanted her love to be known but not judged, and honestly it's quite impactful to see Courtney taking the cautious first steps of being vulnerable.
But don't get me wrong, I'm not saying this scene actually is romantic and that the writers succeeded in conveying this. The big red flag that goes off when you see this is unignorable and it weakens, if not destroys, the original reading of the scene. but still the take away from this scene was obviously not supposed to be 'Invisigal is predator' and her coming off as that is an consequence of a writing team who plays extremely fast and lose with sexual assault and doesn't give it the respect it deserves.
Same thing with Malevola, I've seen some many say 'I like her and she's pretty cool, but she sexually assaulted Robert in that one scene so idk,' ignoring the fact that scene is so obviously not intended as that and the flaw here is not the character but the author who is puppeting them to act out their sexual harassment comedy. Obligatory characters are not real and autonomous and it's just as important to understand doylistically why that act as they do as watsonian as to not end up misnterpreting the authors purpose and therefore the story.
(also mandatory disclaimer, you can still dislike these characters even if you know these scene aren't supposed to be characterization moments. Unintended flaws are still flaws and still will rightfully impact your understanding of a character. Truly if your icked out by these characters it's the fault of the writers for forgetting that their characters' actions characterize them and you probably shouldn't make characters you're supposed to like grope their coworkers)
Ultimately, It's frustrating that these conversations have never went past heated rants directed at pixels instead of truly digging deep on why this happened. Nobody really wants to have an earnest conversation about (male) sexual assault, and it's depictions in media. We just all hate invisigal. That's the only point here and it is so frustratingly surface level and stupid.
and ngl? it's very telling that people have preferred to direct all their criticisms at the fictional women who can't defend herself instead of even an ounce of it at ADHOC who wrote her to be that way.
