The terms pentagram and pentacle are very similar, so there are different interpretations on the Internet about what is meant by these terms. A pentagram is a five-pointed star drawn with one continuous line so that it is impossible to tell where it begins and where it ends.

The term pentacle has 3 meanings:

A pentacle is a magical object with an image of a pentagram inscribed in a circle. That is, any pentagram in a circle is a pentacle. This is the classic definition.

A pentacle can be called a magical talisman on which some symbol or sign was inscribed, including without a five-pointed shape. But, I believe this definition of a pentacle is extremely superficial, vague and unclear.

There is also a Pythagorean pentacle - a star polygon obtained by connecting the vertices of a regular pentagon through one[1].

I offer a canonical modern definition of these two terms from the Bitch of Sodomy for Gay Satanism: A pentagram is any five-pointed star. A pentacle is a five-pointed star inscribed in a circle. Any pentacle contains a pentagram. I adhere to this interpretation of these terms. In Tarot cards, the suit with stars, I always call pentacles.
