We define creativity through an exemplary output of a work. Most times, our definition goes with a scant to no understanding at all on the process. Even more so, we disregard the varying degrees of creativity when studying an expression of art. If you’re an art advocate, you recognize the levels of creativity that sets an artwork or artists from the rest. That said, we begin to classify ourselves as advocates of a specific approach to art. Moreover, as our understanding of the degrees of creativity deepens, these degrees compel us to become better on our crafts. What Are the Degrees of Creativity? Expressive Expressive creativity is the level where an artist pours his feelings into his craft with a striking quality due to its directness. What draws viewers, readers, or listeners is the exposure of the artist’s vulnerability. The innocence of his raw feelings unexpectedly permeates through the soul of an audience. Productive The next level of creativity uses technical skills and therefore exercise restrictions and control. This is the level when an artist develops proficiency, thereby permitting his creative expression to multitudinous ways. Inventive This level is where an artist starts experimenting with their works. Through various materials, familiar techniques, and an in-depth understanding of his art’s elements, he explores another approach to art. He begins to break the rules in the hopes of birthing to a new form of art. Innovative The fourth degree of creativity is innovation where the artist modifies his work with a specified concept. This gives birth to a personal output. With the use of the aforementioned degrees plus his innovative skills, the artist most likely awaits a breakthrough. Imaginative The 5th and the highest level of creativity is the imaginative creativity, also called the genius level. This level establishes a new principle that inspires other artists to mimic a particular style so a predominant art movement emerges.
