Hello hello!

Welcome to an AU that I just sort of stumbled into one day. It goes once upon a time @yumezuke and I went "what if Invader Zim but 1,000 years ago where they do a Zim "ancestor story" and I do a Dib "ancestor story" simultaneously?" and then I stumbled upon a lost pre-Columbian civilization that was perfect for the task.

To clarify by ancestor story I'm talking about that trope I see in cartoons sometimes when they'll just have an episode set however many years in the past and it's just the main characters with slightly different names and clothing and its supposed to be their ancestors. You've seen this before, I'm not crazy.

Anyway this one started with Lilip being like "I want to do Irk lore 1000 years ago" and me, with already an interest in Human History and Geography went "ok so what's going on on Earth at this time. Crab Nebula."

So naturally ancestor Zim somehow caused the Crab Nebula. Logically.

Next of course is to figure out where Dib is and what culture he's apart of. For a little while I headcanoned the Membranes as being from New Mexico (think Roswell, Chupacabras, sketchy science experiments, etc. like of course a scientist father, paranormal investigator son, and could care less about the world daughter come from there. you can see my vision yes). I already associated the Membranes with New Mexico/Chihuahua so I was like "ok what was going on in this area of the world in 1000 CE". And guys when I tell you I hit the JACKPOT.

This civilization is only known through its ruins, had its peak in 1000 CE, was in about the right location, and emphasizing the fact that there was a meteorite carefully wrapped in linen. What was it for? I'm sure it wasn't a young paranormal investigator fascinated with outer space but hey! Who knows? It's possible!

So anyway yeah um there's something fun there also I like drawing my favorite characters in speculative historical outfits :)

Oh and on those outfits!!!

Dib's pattern as well as being referential to the patterns seen in Paquime pottery is also meant to look like a Chihuahuan Agapema (moth) and Gaz's is meant to look like the Death's Head Hawkmoth!
