They stay in the hall for close to an hour and Yuji tells Inui everything. He listens intently and he believes him. Yuji realises that Inui has always believed him.
Inui's about to relax completely when a final question slips inside him. It tries to get up but slips over again.
"The data," he says.
He gets up and walks hurriedly to his room. On his knees, he goes through the files incessantly. He sits there and combs through them. He rummages and plows among the loose papers.
"What are you doing?" Yuji asks. He's come in and stands behind him.
Inui turns and looks up at him, open notebook in his hand.
"I'm looking for this," he tells him and waves his hands at the both of them. "I'm looking for you and me, together."
And Yuji only crouches down. He kneels with him and places his hand on Inui's to make him drop the papers.
"I don't think it's in there," he says it softly. "I think, Inui..." His hands hold him now gently on the face. The orange light of late afternoon is attached to him. "This moment isn't in your data. I think this belongs to us."
