In the snow
Pairing: Jimin x Reader
AU: Werewolf
*light angst, romance, comedy, fluff*
Inspired by Maggie Stiefvaterâs Shiver series (and the aesthetic of Deanâs What 2 Do)
She was just laying there, without saying anything, without the intention of moving. She looked like a little angel, but her wings were nowhere to be seen in the thick snow, as the snowfall never stopped. She couldnât get up - not when she faced four scary huge wolves. Even if she could get up, she would have problems with walking as she injured her legs - she tripped while she was running in the forest. And of course, the little girl screamed in her high, girly voice which drew the attention of the so-called beasts of the wild.Â
She noticed a younger one among them, a white one. At least she thought it was younger because it wasnât as huge as the others. When she looked at the smaller wolf, she felt something unexplainable - her fear vanished at once, instead of being scared, she was curious.Â
The wolves didnât growl at her. She was surprised, she heard stories about the wolves nearby that killed people if they were lost in the woods. And now here she was, besides her bleeding and a bit aching leg, she was okay. At least not the meal of the wolves.
The 9-year old little girl flinched when she saw them moving towards her.Â
âMaybe I am gonna be a snack. In that case, I loved you Dad, Jungkookie, even if you are such a dork with me and you keep stealing my crayons.â She thought of her farewell to her family. However, only one went closer to her - the owner of the white fur.
Every sane person would back away if they were approached by a wild animal. But she couldnât move an inch - not only because of her injury. It sat next to her, inspecting the little girlâs features. She thought the wolf acted somehow humanly. Then it came closer and closer until the animalâs warm breath hit her skin. Her wound was reachable thanks to the jeans which were ripped. It was like the wolf was waiting. Waiting for a reaction? Waiting for a voice? She didnât know.
âWill it bite me?â She asked in her head but she couldnât panic. Not when she was with the beautiful wolfie. The animalâs face got lower and to her astonishment, it started to lick her wounds. She let out a squeak, it didnât bother the wolf as it continued to work on her skin.
She couldnât miss the moment when the wolf looked in her eyes - as if it understood her. She didnât know what it came to her but suddenly her hand moved to pat it that didnât expect a touch from the human-being. She smiled softly at the animal in front of her which stopped for a bit but then moved its tongue again.
âI thought you were gonna eat me for dinner, you know.âÂ
She wanted to slap herself - why was she talking to an animal? But she often felt alone as she was living near the wood, far away from other kids, far away from fun. She shrugged but once again the wolfâs eyes laid on her, she relaxed.
âBut as it seems, youâre my hero, so thanks for that.â She sounded genuine and she could have sworn she heard a strange noise coming from the pup.
The animal finished and pulled her up, grabbing her coat by its teeth. When she whimpered the animal nudged her by its nose to hop on its back. She was sure she was dreaming. But she accepted the offer and she sat on the wolf. The white wolf went past the others and it headed fast the direction of her house.
âYou know where I live? How?â She asked as she was clinging to it. She was comfortable hugging the warm body of the beast, a thought came to her mind - she didnât want to let go the source of warmness. She didnât feel that safe since her motherâs death.
When they arrived the little white house, the wolf helped her getting off of it. Her legs didnât hurt as much as they used to, that was a relief.Â
âThank you... my friend.â She smiled and once more she patted its head before it disappeared.
The door swung open, revealing her very angry dad.
âWhere the hell have you been, Y/N? I was worried sick.â He started the scolding but then he saw her leg and his thoughts were interrupted by the sight. âYou were in the forest?â
âYes. I was. Iâm so-so-sorry.â She cried instantly and her dad enveloped her in a tight hug, a bone-crushing connection of two sad souls. The man was alive only because of his two children, they were the only lights in his dark life.
âDonât do this to me again.â
She didnât know but the wolf was still there, watching the emotional moment between father and daughter. He thought for a moment âfather-in-law and brideâ but it was early to think about. Not when she was a little girl and him a 14-year old teenager.
âYou are whipped, man.â He heard the voice of an elder werewolf.
âThanks, I know.â Jimin rolled his eyes, mentally plotting a murder against his friend if he didnât stop teasing him.
âIt was such a cute scenario. For real.â Yoongi said, this time not as mockingly as before. âShe was mesmerized by you and...â
âOh, just shut up, hyung.â Jimin turned away hiding the pinkness in his cheeks.
Yoongi just laughed, hitting his friendâs back playfully.
âWe gotta go or would you like to transform back to be a good guard dog?
âWhy are you doing this to me?â Jimin groaned and they left Y/Nâs garden. This place was familiar to him now, as every night he was watched her.
British World Cup Skier James Pouch Announces Retirement
British World Cup Skier James Pouch Announces Retirement https://ift.tt/9FAjcal James Pouch, one of Britainâs longest standing Park & Pipe World Cup skiers, has announced his decision to retire from competition ahead of the 2026/27 season. Widely recognised for his style and technical strengths, James has made his World Cup debut in January 2020, racking up nine top 30 World Cup finishes across his career, as well as appearing at the 2025 World Championships in St Moritz. Jamesâ competitive FIS debut came in January 2017 in Waterville, USA, with his first competitive appearance outside of North America coming in a World Cup debut which saw him finish 40th in Slopestyle in Seiseralm, Italy. James broke the World Cup top-30 for the first time three years later in Silvaplana, finishing 22nd in Slopestyle, while his best World Cup result came in the Klagenfurt Big Air competition in January 2025 with a storming 16th place finish. The 2025/26 season saw James record six World Cup results including two Big Air top 30s in Steamboat in December 2025 and Tignes in March this year. Alongside his competition performances, James has been an integral part of the British Freeski team notably training and competing alongside Chris McCormick, Tom Greenway, and Tyler Harding in the Menâs Park & Pipe Freeski World Cup squad. Announcing his decision to retire, James said: âItâs been an incredible time skiing with the team over the years. Iâve seen parts of the world that I otherwise wouldnât have, met amazing people, and been able to compete with the best skiers out there. Iâve had such a blast travelling, training, competing, and just spending time with the Park & Pipe squad. Freeskiing is in a great place right now and I feel really honoured and fortunate to have been a part of the scene for all this time. Itâs something that will always be a part of who I am, but I know that itâs the right time for me to step away from competing and focus on my next endeavour. I want to say thank you to my family, teammates, coaches, and everyone else who has been a part of the journey, there are certainly a lot. Seven years later and I still canât believe Iâve had the privilege to do this, I canât thank everyone enough.â Pics Credit: Sam Mellish / GB Snowsport. ECOFUEGO Brings Après-Ski Firepit Atmosphere Home
ECOFUEGO Brings Après-Ski Firepit Atmosphere Home https://ift.tt/v2LDItP Après-ski is difficult to recreate once youâre back home, but ECOFUEGO has come up with a practical way to bring some of that winter-terrace atmosphere into the garden. The company describes its new outdoor firepit as the worldâs first wax firepit, using replaceable wax candles to create a real flame for patios, terraces and outdoor spaces without the need for logs or gas. Designed for outdoor living, the ECOFUEGO system uses replaceable 100% vegetable-wax refill candles rather than wood or gas, creating a real flame for gardens, patios, terraces and compact entertaining spaces. The company says each refill can burn for up to 8 hours, with the firepit lit using a standard lighter and extinguished with the supplied lid. It is designed as a decorative and warming outdoor flame, rather than a cooking fire. For anyone missing the feel of a ski lodge terrace between mountain trips, the appeal is easy to understand. There are no logs to store, no ash to clear away and no wood smoke drifting across the table. Instead, ECOFUEGO promises a cleaner, simpler firepit experience for winter evenings, après-ski-style gatherings and relaxed cold-weather entertaining at home. The range includes the El Fuego Original 37cm, aimed at gardens and terraces, and the smaller El Campo 27cm, a more portable option for camping, cabins, picnics and smaller outdoor spaces. ECOFUEGO says the El Campo includes a firepit, tabletop lid, carry bag, drum and one 8-hour refill, while the brandâs wider collection also includes natural and citronella wax refills. The brand says its wax is 100% biodegradable vegetable wax sourced from audited suppliers, and also claims the system can produce up to 90% lower COâ emissions than a traditional wood fire. As with all sustainability claims, readers should treat that figure as manufacturer-stated unless independently verified. Current prices listed by ECOFUEGO include the El Fuego Original from ÂŁ199.99, El Campo Matte Black from ÂŁ119.99 and 4.5kg natural wax refills at ÂŁ26.99, although some refill options were showing as sold out on the brandâs site at the time checked. Products are sold direct, with the company also offering a store locator for retail stockists. It is a neat idea for skiers who like to carry the mountain mood into everyday life. ECOFUEGO will not replace the real thing, of course, with snow underfoot, a piste map in the pocket and the last run still glowing in the legs. But for a winter evening in the garden, a chalet-inspired gathering or a little fireside theatre after dark, it brings the terrace a good deal closer. With lift pass prices now one of the biggest costs on many ski holidays, particularly for families and couples booking peak winter dates, the offer could make a noticeable difference to the overall price of a trip. It is likely to be most appealing to skiers who already know they want a full week on the mountain and are booking a complete package rather than building their holiday independently. The offer is available on selected local and area lift passes of up to 13 days in duration and can be added during the booking process when customers book a Crystal Ski Holidays package that includes transport, transfers and accommodation. The Buy One, Get One Free lift pass offer launches on 2 July 2026 and will be available for a limited time, subject to availability. Full terms here. As always with ski holiday offers, travellers should check the eligible resorts, pass types and departure dates carefully before booking, as the best savings will vary by destination, holiday date and lift pass duration. 8000m Peak Skied Top To Snowline For First Time
8000m+ Peak Skied Top To Snowline For First Time https://ift.tt/c84avsR Polish ski mountaineer Andrzej Bargiel (38) has added another landmark achievement to his already unprecedented highâaltitude rĂŠsumĂŠ, completing the first continuous ski descent of Nanga Parbat (8,126 m) without supplemental oxygen. The descent, executed in late June 2026, closes his decadeâlong Pakistan Project and establishes a new benchmark in Himalayan ski mountaineering: an unbroken line from summit to the final patches of skiable snow on one of the worldâs most notorious 8,000âmetre peaks. Nanga Parbatâs reputation is carved from both tragedy and legend. Known as the âKiller Mountain,â it holds one of the highest fatality rates among the 14 âeightâthousandersâ and remains inseparable from Reinhold Messnerâs 1970 ascent of the Rupal Face. Ski attempts have been made over the years, but none had succeeded in linking the summit to the snowline in a single, oxygenâfree push. The upper Diamir Face, Bargielâs chosen line, is guarded by a large serac barrier that has historically forced climbers to abandon skis and continue on foot, a key obstacle that had prevented previous full descents. Bargiel began acclimatisation and highâcamp rotations in the second half of June, gradually adapting to altitudes above 8,000 metres while studying weather windows and snow stability. âI knew that the success of this project would depend on the right timing and the right conditions in the mountains,â he said afterwards, crediting his team and Red Bull for their support. He left Base Camp (4,200 m) at 06:00 on 28 June, climbing without bottled oxygen and overnighting at Camp II (6,200 m) and Camp III (6,850 m). On 30 June he reached the summit, spent 45 minutes there, then stepped into his skis and committed to the descent. His route followed the Messner line, threading a traverse past the serac barrier that had previously ended ski attempts. Bargiel spent roughly two hours above 7,900â8,000 metres â deep within the death zone â before continuing down to below Camp I (4,400 m), where the final skiable snow ended. In total, he descended around 4,000 vertical metres, completing the first fully continuous ski line ever recorded on Nanga Parbat. Team member Janusz GoĹÄ b described the descent as âone of the most complex ski projectsâ he had witnessed, emphasising the constant realâtime decisionâmaking required on such steep, exposed terrain. With Nanga Parbat, Bargiel becomes the first person to climb and ski Broad Peak, K2, Gasherbrum I, Gasherbrum II, Everest (video below) and Nanga Parbat all without supplemental oxygen cementing his status as one of the most accomplished ski mountaineers of the modern era.  The post 8000m+ Peak Skied Top To Snowline For First Time appeared first on InTheSnow. via InTheSnow https://ift.tt/2t1Wknq July 2, 2026 at 06:51AM
