My bladder and my vagus nerve are in a permanent stand-off and sometimes my stomach joins. Pretty much all electrolytes have citric acid in them. This is a huge trigger for my bladder pain. I avoid electrolytes. I don't ingest enough electrolytes, my nervous system kicks my ass. I'm stuck in bed barely able to open my eyes due to pots. I try to ingest electrolytes without citric acid and it's mostly the salt pills that make me sick. Can't keep down plain water when this happens so I get more dehydrated. The cycle continues. I've gotta get a new doctor who will let me get IVs cause I'm losing my mind over this cycle. Or maybe my new bladder doctor will have a bladder based solution. I just hate this shit.
Me yesterday: wow I’ve been feeling so great lately! I’m going to try some pasta with tomato sauce since I haven’t had it in ages! And maybe… I’ll have some M&Ms too 👀 I’ve just been doing so great with my diet and my medication recently that I’ve been able to have more cheat days!

Been on a bladder relaxant medication for about three weeks and suddenly I have a sex drive I haven't had in months, possibly years! I was blaming it on my mental health. But no apparently if you see a doctor who isn't a mad scientist doing experiments on you, sometimes they give you medication that helps your whole vibe. So. Good to know.

Hello ! I looked up the tag Interstitial Cystitis and saw that you to have the “pissing disease “ . Would you be up to talking about it ? Maybe about what you do that helps with your pain ? I’m really struggling with mine right now. And if you don’t want to talk about it I totally get it ! It fucking sucks !
Yes of course I love talking about it bc I feel like I rarely see anyone else talking about bladder issues.
Currently i'm on two medications for it. Elmiron to help with pain and recently started a bladder relaxer for overactivity and they both help but don't fix anything. If I'm honest, I mostly manage with diet. I am pretty strict about not eating any acid or spice or anything else irritating. I got a list of foods to avoid when I was first diagnosed but I think there are lists online too. When I do have a small amount of acid I take Prelief pills. They're an over the counter acid reducer that you take with food. They help but I still always have pain when I eat acidic food. Managing with diet sucks cause it basically runs your life and I am already on a separate medical diet so I've got very restricted options. But it's genuinely the most helpful thing for me.
Nevertheless sometimes I still have flare ups and stuff and I manage that pain with heat mostly. Pain meds when they will prescribe them but they are unbelievably difficult to get. So yeah I spend a lot of time crying curled up around a heating pad.
