Look what I found outside the village of Akhendachou n’Aït Ouffi! 🇲🇦😺☀️

After riding through mountain passes with no asphalt, villages where children throw rocks at me, where internet has been super spotty all over the region, I see these gigantic solar panels along the dusty land. I’m not saying Morocco shouldn’t have solar panels, but it feels like this is a jump 10 layers of technology from the places I’ve been where there aren’t even sidewalks.

Some rooms I’ve stayed in just have a single lightbulb literally hanging from a hole in the ceiling. It’s just a huge contrast to me and looks and feels out of place.

Thanks for the rest in all your vibrant colors, Chefchaouen 🇲🇦 but we gotta go!

I’m visiting here in the winter, so it’s not so busy and I really liked that. There weren’t throngs of tourists overcrowding spaces. It was quiet, I got some rest, and read some of my book. But I could feel comfort seeping into me. If I don’t move for a while, I start to lose motivation to keep going. I think, “Ahh, life would be so much easier if I just stayed in one place.” It feels really nice not to move when you’ve been on the road for so long. So I had to jolt myself up and force myself to keep moving! ⚡️

Hello from the Medina in Chefchaouen, Morocco! 🇲🇦

Located in the Northwest of Morocco in the Rif Mountains, this town is also known as The Blue Pearl. And I think you can see why 😺 The buildings in this town are painted all different shades of blue and give the town a unique look, especially cast upon the surrounding mountain landscape

It feels so nice to move slow. Initially I was just going to spend a few hours here and keep moving to Fes. But I decided to spend a few nights. I have to break out of my rushing/ constant moving habit. Move slow, Crystal. US Citizens get 90 days in Morocco, we have time. So here I am dressed and exploring like a regular human. The alleys and corridors are not straight and are one huge confusing maze, but it’s actually quite fun. I’ve gotten lost a few times, but it’s really safe here. No hijab, no one harassing me. Just some shop keepers asking if I’d like to look at their merchandise. One polite decline and they leave me alone.
