Being a mom is hard sometimes. Being a special needs mom is even harder. Ive been stressed about my boy for a week now and i am exhausted. I like to think I've been doing a real good job at handling it or hiding it. I like to think that i am strong and can just go on about my daily tasks while taking care of him and doing what he needs for him. But days like today... sigh... yes, i will lay on my couch with my sick baby and cry along with him. That is our plan today. And that is OKAY. . . I used to think i was just being emotional. I used to tell myself that i can't cry and i need to focus on what needs to be done. I used to tell myself that God has a plan and that i shouldn't worry. I gave myself a pep talk to lock it up and Go. Not only am i trained to deal with such and such but my motherly instincts are powerful with this little one. . . But deep down underneath my stone cold emotion less heart, far in the back of my chaotic brain and stuck under some weird organ in my gut... i thought i was going crazy. Maybe i have depression. Maybe i have anxiety. Maybe i have multiple personalities now because with every day and every person i am with and in every situation or circumstance i am just so completely different. Maybe i AM going crazy. Because THAT is what mom-shaming and perfect moms of Insta tell us. . . But truth is.... Im not. Im just a wife who became a mother. A mother who became a special needs mom. A special needs mom who became an advocate. An advocate who still wonders if I'm doing everything right or at least doing everything ok to give my kids a good life. 🤷‍♀️ And with all of this... all i can mutter is "we'll see." . . So if you know a mom, let her know that you support her. Give her a hug. Send her a text. Give her a high five and tell her she ain't crazy. Tell her you're right there with her. Fruit always tastes better when it looks this pretty!! I love playing with food and creating masterpieces! These simple melon and mango flowers were so easy. Just slice a few very thin pieces of cantaloupe and mango. Roll up the first piece and wrap the remaining pieces around it to create a flower. 🎨⭐️🌈✨ Simple symmetry puzzle art is one of my all time favorite easy and educational art projects! It’s simple to set up, mess free, requires few supplies and keep kids entertained. It’s the perfect project for a rainy day, summer afternoon, or day off from school. 🎨⭐️🌈✨ This is a great way for children of all ages to explore the concepts of positive and negative space and symmetry. Preschool aged children enjoy completing the puzzle after it has been drawn and cut out, and older children are able to draw complex designs, carefully cut out each piece and complete the symmetry puzzle. Scroll through to see step by step pics. Supplies: one sheet white cardstock, half sheet colored cardstock, pencil,scissors, and glue. . . 1. Discuss positive/negative space and symmetry and brainstorm symmetrical objects. 2. Fold a colored piece of cardstock in half and cut down the middle. You will only need a half sheet of cardstock. 3. Draw a simple or complex design on one half of the paper. Be sure to draw design along the middle crease and outer edges of the paper so it is easier to cut out. 4. Cut out design and be sure to save all the cutout pieces. 5. Reassemble the cutout design on one side of a white sheet of cardstock. 6. Carefully flip over each cutout piece and place it in the corresponding spot on the blank half of the white cardstock. 7. We went on an orange treasure hunt to gather up all of our orange toys and created our very own I SPY picture. This is a great way to teach colors, sorting, identifying objects, and counting.
