"Hi! Welcome to Chili's!" greets a motherly voice as the first customers of the day walk into the restaurant. Insinera took great pride in her business, and it was revered as the best Chili's in the entire state of Florida. It was no surprise with how much love she had put into the little place. She ran it with almost as much pride and joy as she raised her son Patch.
Speaking of, the staff was always kind to the lad. Insinera made sure that all the staff knew at least a little ASL before hiring them, seeing as that was how he communicated. She wanted to make sure that her son would be understood, at least a little bit, by those around him.
The mother-son duo loved working together, and just as always, everything was going splendidly. There were satisfied customers left and right. Food was coming out of the kitchen in a timely manner. Insinera was pleased, until she felt a slight tug on her uniform.
'Mom, there's a car on fire in the parking lot.'
"WHAT?!?!?" she let out a shreik.
Rest assured, the car was on fire. No one was hurt, thankfully, but it still kinda killed the buzz of the business day, especially after it exploded. The parking lot had to close quite a few spaces.
As she stood looking at the smoldering vehicle, she wondered why. Why did this happen. Her son didn't seem too phased by it, unlike the rest of the employees and clientele. She only heard him sigh.
'I told her not to do it.'
W h a t. "You.... you told who not to do it?" she questioned Patch.
'The blonde girl living in Xenzerin's vents,' he signed back.
Oh. For some reason, it all made sense now. Or did it? Who knows what that little girl is thinking. What she did know was that she had been coming by trying to meet her son for a couple days, but the store was always too busy. She must have thought this was the only way to slow it down. Where did she even get gasoline? Is it even wise to question that? The store couldn't remain open in the wake of this, so it looks like the blonde got her wish.
While the employees were more than happy to receive an impromptu day off from their boss, Insinera couldn't help but to feel disappointed that she had to throw the towel in early that day. However, watching her son play with that new feral child Xelzerin couldn't get rid of made her smile. Even if her business eventually went down, she would always have her boy. All was happy in the end.
Officer Null was still less than thrilled about the paperwork though. That girl was going to be the death of her.
