Gasoline
When I was burning by the flames,
You poured the gasoline,
And even though you no longer set me ablaze,
You haven't turned down the mess you made.
Poliness isn’t forgiveness,
Nor is it an apology.
I was a child,
But so were you.
I knew better,
Why didn’t you?
Brother
“You’ll adore with age”
Wrong,
I adored and waited,
He cursed and hated,
I’m tired of waiting.
Why wait for an uncertain change,
If he can’t stop,
I will adapted,
Can’t wait,
Far too late.
Short story that I made for English class.
In my pocket, I had a concert ticket and Uncle's credit card. My jacket was as clean as ever. I was calm like I always was.
'I want my lawyer,' I demanded the way my father had taught me for the fiftieth time.
'He's almost here Mary,' The Officer said.
The door swung open and Mr.Lewis, my family's lawyer walked in.
'Mary,' He asked, 'Have you said anything'
'No sir ,I've just been asking for you.'
'Good, if they have even the most basic of cases it could ruin your whole future. Hello I'm Curtis Lewis. Now Officer, I understand you have questions for Ms. Silverstone here.'
'Yes I do. May we get started?' The Officer said as if he hadn't been bothering me the whole time before Mr.Lewis arrived.
'Of course'
'On record, your name is Mary Silverstone correct,' The Officer said, turning towards me.
'Yes sir,' I responded.
'You're sixteen?'
'Yes.'
'And where were you last night?'
'I was at a concert.'
'Who was with you?'
'My friends Jessie Rectis and Amelia Golin.'
'Have you been made aware of Mx. Rectis's murder?'
'Several times by you and the other officers'
'You don't seem that upset.'
'Of course I'm upset she was one of my best friends.' I said, letting tears into my voice. 'But, I'm not some beggar, I can't spend time crying. I have things to do.'
'What happened after the concert Ms.Silverstone.'
'My limousine drove us all to my house for an after party. We stayed there till around one in the morning. Then I went with them when they were driven home. Our driver was new you see I don't yet trust him'
I shifted in my seat and it was difficult to speak.
'I dropped Amelia off first but Jessie said she wanted to be dropped off at her father's house. Her parents are divorced, and her dad lives on a dirt road that the limousine isn't allowed to drive down. So we dropped her off at the top of her road and went home.'
'May I show you photos of their body?'
Mr.Lewis cut in, 'No you may not. She's only sixteen and she does not need to see a dead body, especially of someone so close to her.'
'Of course Mr. Lewis.'
'Is that all you have for us because you have already held her here since noon and unless you're charging her you can't hold 61 more hours.'
'No you two are free to go.' The Officer said.
Mr.Lewis walked me out the door, 'Would you like me to drive you home Mary.'
'Yes, Mr.Lewis. Thank you.'
'Mary, it's what I'm paid for. I'm just happy you used gloves this time, the fingerprints were hard to disprove.'
