For the dialogue prompt? "Why do I love you?" Could be funny, fluffy or both! Any AU as long as you have fun with it! Love you work as always!
âWhy do I love you?â Geralt asks. Jaskier shrugs and turns the spitted rabbit over the fire. âThis is the third inn youâve gotten us thrown out of.â
âWell if the owners would stop insulting you then I wouldnât need to threaten their lives,â the bard explains. âItâs not my fault theyâre bastards.â
âHmm.â
âI thought you liked sleeping on the ground,â Jaskier continues, pitching his voice down an octave to imitate Geraltâs, âSleeping beneath the stars is good for your health, bard.â
âI didnât think Iâd have to skip so many nights on a real mattress,â the Witcher grumbles. He sharpens his sword in relative silence, only Jaskierâs steady breathing and the crackling of the fire providing any real ambiance. Even the woods are oddly quiet.
Not too quiet just...not as boisterous as usual.Â
Or maybe the silence of the forest is so unnerving because the bard is also staying silent; that is a rare thing in and of itself. Suddenly and unexpectedly, Geralt smells tears. His eyes fly to Jaskierâs shaking shoulders, âWhatâs wrong, Jaskier?â
âWhy do you love me?â the bard cries, turning to face his Witcher. âAll I do is cause you trouble, like you said all that time ago. You would have been able to sleep at the inn tonight if it wasnât for me. Iâm so sorry, Geralt.â
The Witcher drops his sword to the ground without a second thought and rushes to gather Jaskier into his arms. âSilly bard,â he croons unashamedly. âI love you because you care so fiercely. Without your ballads I would still be having rocks thrown my way instead of coins. I wouldnât be able to step out in public the way I can now, and get appreciative nods rather than hateful glares. Youâre a blessing in a fancy doublet, Jask.â
The bardâs tears slow to a stop and he nuzzles close to Geraltâs neck. âOkay. I love you, too.â
âHmm. Letâs eat. Rabbitâs done.â
