Happy 84th birthday to Guro/Sifu Dan Inosanto. I have had many amazing teachers and influential people in my life, and aside from my own parents, this man and his teachings have probably been the biggest. He taught me there are many ways to the mountain top, and all of them can be valid. He taught me that we are all different people and we will all grow in different directions, but if you do not start with a solid foundation your growth will not be strong or not be able to reach as far as you’d like. He has taught me to be patient with myself and others. He has taught me there are many phases to life, and your training should adapt with those phases rather than fighting against them. He taught me you don’t have to be the best to teach someone or to help another achieve their best. I can only hope to have half of the impact on own students as he’s had on me... Thank you, Guro Dan.
