Everyone is sitting in class, waiting for Gojoâs arrival. Panda is throwing paper balls at Yuta, and Maki is yelling at him. Inumaki is sitting next to you as you ramble about your morning.
âAnd then for the third time this week Maki accused me of stealing her socks! Why would I steal her socks?â you whine, smacking your head down on your desk. âOw.â
Inumaki chuckles a little and starts writing on a piece of paper that was tucked in his pocket.
âAre you ready for your grade assignment?â
Great. The one thing you donât want a reminder of.
Gojo was creating the grade assignments today, meaning you would all have to showcase your skills. You are originally assessed by the higher-ups when you enroll, but Gojo thought itâd be fun for himself to put you in a category. Inumaki was secured to be at least a partial first grade, but you would be lucky to even be a fourth grade.
Inumaki can tell youâre tense and takes the piece of paper back, scribbling out what he wrote. Gojo walks into the classroom twenty minutes late and tells everyone to get out to the training field.
You notice him carrying something with him, a case of sorts, but you donât question it and follow behind him with your classmates.
âOkiedokie! We will begin with combat, then move onto your cursed techniques,â Gojo explains. âYuta and Maki, youâre up first!â
As Yuta gets pushed around by Maki, you canât help but look at the case again. It looks oddly familiar, yet you canât put your finger on it.
Your ears begin to ring and your heart rate rises when you realize what Gojo is planning to do. The case. Thatâs yourâ
Your thoughts are cut off as Inumaki bumps your shoulder. You turn to look at him and notice Gojo pointing at you and Panda.
âYou two are up!â
You wince a little, knowing this is about to be painful. As Panda takes a defensive stance, you get into the offensive position that youâve been taught.
You attempt to charge at Panda, but he swiftly dodges and puts his foot out to trip you.
You catch onto his trick and jump over his foot, getting ready to spin around and kick him, but you get stopped when he grabs your leg and whips you around.
Panda throws you to the ground, and you hurriedly try to get up, but he stops you by putting his foot on your back, keeping you down.
âAnd thatâs how you take someone down!â Panda proudly exclaims, crossing his arms.
You roll over, landing on your back, and just stare up into the sky.
Why. Why canât I do anything correctly?
Memories of the concert begin to flood your mind. Failing to do a simple violin solo. You overestimate yourself, then only moments later underestimate yourself. You were the embodiment of contradictions.
Inumaki rushes out to the field and helps you up.
âThanks, Toge.â You take his hand and gently rise to your feet. âI donât understand what Iâm doing wrong.â
Inumaki grabs his phone to text you something, but Gojo cuts his actions off.
âWoah! Good spin out there. Am I sensing improvement with combat?â he smiles, obviously lying to encourage you.
You laugh and roll your eyes.
âYeah⌠youâre definitely sensing something.â
You look back to see his reaction, but suddenly his expression shifts into something more serious.
âI think itâs time you try using your cursed technique once more.â
What? Did he forget you canât? Is he trying to joke around? Because if so, itâs not funny.
He brings the case out in front of him and you finally recognize what it is. Your old violin case. Heâs going to make you play it again for the first time in years.
âAnd I think the only way you can control your technique for now is by using an instrument,â he states while slowly taking the violin out.
You begin to forget how to breathe. Suddenly the air canât get to your lungs, and all you can hear is ringing. You turn your head to see Inumaki trying to talk to you, his scarf pulled down. You look away from him and see Gojo holding the violin out to you.
Suddenly everything goes blurry and you fall to your knees.
You stare down at the grass, trying to calm down, but all you can see is the same light that was blaring down at you during the concert. Suddenly itâs like youâre there again.
Youâre in the body of your younger self, staring out into the audience. Looking over the faces of people that you will unknowingly hurt soon. Seeing your motherâs face in the crowd, not noticing the fear in her eyes. Glancing at the head of your clan while he sits still, already looking bored. Before you even start to play, your fate is sealed.
You finally snap out of it as Inumaki shakes you awake.
âTuna mayo!â he shouts at you.
You look at him for the first time. Really look at him. You notice the little freckle he has on his left cheek, just below his eye, and the way his eyes have a hue of light purple.
The ringing stops and all you can see is Inumaki.
âIâm fine! Iâm fine!â you reply, standing up again and trying to de-escalate the situation. You look at all of your classmates and realize the scene you made of yourself. Embarrassment quickly floods your system and you immediately try to act like nothing happened.
âThat was crazyâI donât even know what came over me.â
âAre you sure? You look pale,â Maki cuts in, showing worry on her face.
âAw, you going soft on me, Maki?â you tease.
âShut up! Youâre the one that fainted at the sight of a violin.â She lightly hits you on the head.
You smile at her attempt to seem strong again.
Gojo walks in front of you and examines your state.
âWe can try the violin out another day. You should rest.â He looks around at your classmates. âUhâInumaki, you take her to her room.â
Inumaki nods and grabs your hand. For some reason it feels different when he touches you. Your ears go slightly red as Inumaki guides you off the field.
âUgh, Iâm exhausted,â you groan, shuffling your feet.
Inumaki turns to you and stops walking. He lets go of your hand, and you immediately notice.
âWhatâs wrong?â you ask worriedly.
Inumaki gestures to his back.
âNo way! Iâm not letting you give me a piggyback ride back to my room!â
Moments later, you arrive at your dorm.
Hopping off Inumakiâs back, you stand in front of your door.
âThank you again, you really didnât have to,â you say.
âSalmon,â Inumaki shrugs.
You know it doesnât mean anything to him, but for you it means the world.
As Inumaki turns around, ready to walk away, you run out and grab his arm.
âWill you promise for us to stay like this?â
âRice?â Inumakiâs eyes widen, clearly confused at your request.
âIâI meanâŚâ you begin to stammer over your words. âOur friendship. Can you promise to always be here like this?â
Inumaki stares at you for a moment, and suddenly making eye contact is the hardest thing to do.
âYeah, I promise,â Inumaki says, not using his ingredients.
You whip your head to look at him and smile the brightest you ever have. In your mind, you thank fate for leading you here.
May 30th, 2017
Youâve skipped the last few days of practice just to get settled down again. Inumaki has been visiting you, bringing little treats here and there. Maki doesnât try to pour water on you in the morning to wake you up, and Panda has calmed down on his jokes. The only person still treating you the same is Yuta. Weirdly, you appreciate that. Itâs nice not to have people treat you like youâre as fragile as glass just because you had a mini breakdown. Well, maybe mini isnât the best descriptor.
Youâre sitting in class with Inumaki next to you, waiting for Gojo to walk in.
Recently, Inumaki has been more protective of you. Like somethingâor someoneâis going to come take you from him. You donât mind it, though. At least it feels like someone cares about you enough to label you as theirs.
Gojo walks in and begins class.
âFirst things first, curse assignments,â he starts. âAlright, now we have a first-grade curse wandering in an abandoned building, so I was thinking Inumaki could take that on.â
Gojo points to Inumaki, giving him a thumbs-up.
âAnd though I know my wonderful student could handle it himself, I want you to bring Yuta with youââ
Before Gojo finishes, Yuta cuts him off.
âReally? Me?â he asks.
But Gojo just keeps talking.
ââAnd I want you to bringâŚâ Gojo moves his finger over to you.
âTuna!â Inumaki stands up.
âItâll be fine! Iâm sure she is ready for this, right?â Gojo turns to face you.
âYeahâIâll be fine,â you reply, a sudden burst of confidence rising in your chest.
âPerfect! Then itâs all good.â
Gojo moves on to a different topic, but you can tell Inumaki is not pleased.
You try to ignore his demeanor for the rest of class, but it is consuming.
After class, while walking over to the vending machines with Inumaki, you ask about it.
âWhatâs up with you? You look like someone told you your pet hamster died,â you try to joke.
He doesnât look at you and just pauses.
âSorry. I didnât consider that you might have had a pet hamster⌠and it died.â
Inumaki finally faces you and holds out his phone.
âI donât think youâre ready.â
Your eyebrows furrow.
âOh, come on! Iâve been training for months now! Plus you and Yuta are going to be there. I donât see the issue,â you argue.
âI donât want you to get hurt. You shouldnât be straining yourself at all.â
âIâm not a piece of glass, you know?â you shout. âIâm able to handle myself. Just because I had a mishap a couple days ago doesnât mean Iâm broken or something.â
âBut what if it happens again? While facing the curse? What if you make another scene?â
âScene? I didnât make a scene! And it wonât happen. I donât understand why you wonât just believe in me.â
Tears start welling up in your eyes, but you push them away and try to appear tough.
Inumaki scoffs and types on his phone again, probably getting ready to say more bullshit.
âYou know what? Iâll tell Gojo-sensei to assign me my own curse, by myself,â you cut in. âThen you can see how well I can handle myself.â
Inumaki drops his phone and looks at you like you threatened him.
âNo.â
Suddenly your body freezes and you canât move.
âToge! Why canât I move?â you shout, stuck in place.
Inumaki quickly regains control of himself and realizes what he did.
âSalmon!â he shouts before running away.
Only seconds later the effect wears off and youâre able to move again.
You sprint off toward the direction he went, but you crash into someone.
âSorry! I didnât see you,â Yutaâs voice cracks.
âItâs fine. Have you seen Toge?â you ask hurriedly.
âUhâno. I thought he was with you,â Yuta says, confused.
âNever mind. Iâm just going to go back to my dorm. Iâll see you tomorrow,â you reply with a tight smile and head in the direction of your dorm.
As you lie in bed, staring at the ceiling, you think about your potential.
Thereâs so much more to you than your past.
Thatâs when you know you need to let go of the past in order to reach the best possible future.

Infrasound Fire Suppression Goes Commercial
Back in 2015, students were experimenting with an alternative fire extinguisher that used sound below the range of human hearing; now a company is pitching a version of that technology for replacing sprinklers. (Image credit: I. Azevedo; via Ars Technica)
(via Scientists Investigated a Frequency Linked to âParanormalâ Encounters. The Results Were Unsettling.)
If youâve ever visited a haunted house or a paranormal hotspot, you may have experienced a weird sense of unease that you couldnât quite explain. While itâs tempting to imagine that these feelings signal the presence of ghosts or other supernatural entities, they may actually be caused by acoustic frequencies below 20 hertz, known as infrasound, according to a study published on Monday in Frontiers in Behavioral Neuroscience.
The human ear is not tuned to pick up infrasound, yet a growing body of research has shown that exposure to these frequencies nonetheless causes negative feelings in humans and many other animals. Now, scientists have probed this mysterious link with a new experimental approach involving 36 volunteers who self-reported their moods while listening to various musical styles that sometimes included infrasound.
So, infrasound!! (I know, science.. UHGG, but bear with me here)
Itâs sound around 16-20 HZ. Humans canât really âhearâ this sound, but they can feel it in high pressure levels, like in a building in a city, under a wind turbine, an airport, earthquakes/tectonic activity, or an empty field. Infrasound can change the way you feel in a certain environment, like: jittery, unease, nervousness, dizziness, headaches, fear, and even hurt your organs(!!)
Sound at 18 HZ is when the human eye resonates (I know, how does the human eye feel sound? I donât know, go search it up) if thereâs this 18 HZ infrasound, it can make the eye see âfiguresâ and colors, so maybe when youâre going up the stairs in the middle of the night and see something that makes you want to hide between your mattress, the âfigureâ might be your eyes playing tricks on you with sound or itâs me- (jk) or the placebo effect.
Anyways, so this is the part where I relate it to Jujutsu Kaisen, HAHA :3 (if you donât want to be here, you can go to the bottom and watch that video I got most of this from)
Cursed energy makes infrasound!!!!!!!
But likeâdifferent, a different type(???). Because infrasound travels for milesssss and I donât think cursed energy can do all that, and even for that effect it needs to be compacted and dense.
Cursed energy makes people nervous or feel weird and thereâs more of it in populated places. Infrasound is basically the same, thatâs why people think certain places are haunted, itâs also louder inside buildings because it can bounce off walls and reflect more, building up more pressure (like how curses form) BUTT infrasound has long wavelengths that let it go through walls, so I donât know how that worksâŚ
EEHA, WAIT!! BEFORE YOU GO, JUST LISTEN. Curses can go through walls!!
If you remember, in the first episode or maybe second, hmmm. But somewhere, when Megumi and Yuuji get attacked by the curse that was in Yuujiâs school and those⌠other two, I donât remember their names, we see a few curses jump through the wall and from the ceiling, also in jjk 0 somewhere.
BUT DO YOU SEE THE VISION!?
YEAHHH!!!
And since Japan has a lot of earthquakes and big metro areas (where curses like to hang out in), ânormal peopleâ/scientists can just chalk large disruptions in infrasound as underwater earthquakes or it being a busy area, AAAAAAND also because infrasound isnât very well understood at the moment (alsobecauseits2018andIgettodowhatIwant) might just be some random phenomenon or faulty equipment/readings.
Iâm feeling really smart rn.. huh..
So hereâs my explanation for why sorcerers can tell about where a curse or other person is; because they can resonate better to the infrasound that cursed energy creates than non-sorcerers and Itâs how their eyes (or brain) processes it, like how some (Higuruma/lawyer guy) need to be âawakenedâ or somethingâto be able to see curses/use cursed energy, but that doesnât relate to the infrasound thing.
Just imagine though, you trip on a phone charger and wake up seeing these things flying around and attached to your friend's face, yet somehow not affecting their vision. With no idea what they are, youâd either get sent to some mental institute or have to suffer in silence. Auhg, oops donât know where all that came from.
We can also say Windows (people who are affiliated with jujutsu society and can see curses, but arenât sorcerers) or just people who can see curses, have a mutation in their eyes or trait passed down from their ancestors that lets them see or sense curses added on with higher cursed energy levels.
..hold on.
âŚ
I just had an Eureka moment (in the shower actually, but it wasnât a genocide thing. Promiseďżź)
I need to scream. One moment please.
..
.
*backflips into your view* OK.
MAKI AND TOJI, THEY ARE BOTH HEAVENLY RESTRICTED, WAA, so their senses and physical attributes are better. But MAKI canât see curses (well, bc Mai..) because that tiny amount of cursed energy is keeping her from awakening her full heavenly restriction (I donât know how that would work, just donât think about it too much please), but TOJI can (donât fight me, it says that he can sense curses with all 5 senses, so that includes sight. AND đ¤âď¸I have an explanation for that)
Toji- (I keep spelling his name like Tojo on accidentđ) Toji can see curses because heâs just built different because his eye sight is really good and that goes along with the eye resonating thing I said above. That helps him see curses, but not completely, because he has to be able to know exactly where they are and infrasound travels in SOUND WAVES and you canât be completely sure where sound comes from (especially when you canât even hear it). But heâs just built different, so maybe he can hear infrasound (but that sounds like a headache, ahaha) and see exactly where a curse is. Idk, itâs up to him.
uhhâŚ
I donât think I have any more. Well thatâs sad :(
Guess youâre free, bye âď¸
(For now.)
Btw, I learnt about this from a yt video and some research, so somethings might be wrong or not explained enough. I JUST GOT A BURST OF INSPO, pls correct me if Iâm wrongđ hereâs the video âŹď¸âŹď¸âŹď¸

The water main construction going on outside our house causes intense, very low rumbling sounds and vibrations, and it's giving me slight visual hallucinations. It's strange and a little fascinating observing the neurological effects of subsonic sounds on myself, and mostly I'm just glad I already knew about the effect before it started happening. I imagine that if I didn't know, I'd be really concerned about suddenly having hallucinations, and it also makes me understand why so many folks in "haunted" houses believe they're haunted; it feels genuinely eerie and real, balancing right on the edge of perceptible.
Going to infrasound this year, if anyone is going I'm making a whole lot of kandi and trinkets so >:3
Ok so ghost headcanon time!
Ghosts purring is a very popular to see around here, I love it, you love it, excellent fluff potential.
BUT! What if ghosts purred at infrasound frequencies?
If you don't know, infrasound is sound waves at frequencies below human hearing, usually 20 Hz or less. It's been known to cause uneasiness and anxiety in people and, if you hit the resonant frequency of the eye, hallucinations.
Imagine now, Danny is happy, his core wants to show his friends/sister he's happy! He starts purring and they just get the heeby jeebies.
