oh heâs already got me. tragically. immediately. no notes.
Max Minghella as Whitney Halberstram is doing that thing he does where he walks on screen like the laws of physics are optional and morality is a suggestion. Hot, smoking, completely untrustworthy, and absolutely convinced heâs the smartest person in the room. Not because he is, but because heâs never once been meaningfully challenged.
And thatâs the killer part. Whit isnât loud chaos. Heâs controlled menace. Vision-as-threat. Charm sharpened into something that cuts if you lean too close. Max plays him with that familiar Minghella cocktail: the half-smile that means heâs already ten moves ahead, the relaxed posture of a man who assumes the world will bend eventually, the confidence of someone whoâs never had to ask permission for desire or power.
Heâs going to ruin people. Professionally, emotionally, probably spiritually. And heâs going to do it while making you want to hear the pitch.
This is why Max is dangerous casting. He doesnât play villains like cartoons. He plays them like inevitabilities like men who believe so deeply in their own vision that destruction feels like collateral, not cruelty. You donât fall for them because theyâre good. You fall because theyâre compelling, persuasive, alive.
And yes. Heâs really going to ruin me again.
Iâm unwell. i regret nothing.
