so Iâm assuming Peter Pan and Pocahontas are not good representation to you?
Yeah. No. Iâm not going to get into it heavily because I could be here forever, but here are five reasons each is just. Bad.
Pocahontas
1) Historically distortive but a people think a lot of it is real-ish
2) Romanticizes colonization
3) Savages. I understand that that song was meant to show both sides (and honestly as an adult it slaps and is chilling), but kids should not be exposed to a slur that young. At best, itâs racially insensitive
4) (in the sequel) Acts like it was her choice to leave behind her family and that others of her Nation willingly left as well, and one even chose to stay in Europe of his own free will
5) Man centered. Literally was willing to risk her entire Nation. For a man.
Peter Pan
1) What Makes The Red Man Red. I feel like that alone is reason enough
2) âHowâ and face paint
3) Smoke circle
4) Tiger Lily being used as a seductress
5) Many of the Nation literally having red skin
Canada is warming twice as fast as the rest of the planet. It just approved three more pipelines anyway.

Hi hi! I kinda feel a bit dumb asking this, but I looked up "blood quantum" and I don't quite understand what it means... I hope it's not rude of me to ask you to explain?
Itâs not rude at all and itâs not dumb. This isnât something thatâs widely known outside the communities aside from in government. These are the kinds of questions I love that yâall ask. Please please continue to do so.
Basically, itâs âhow Indianâ you are by blood.
So if your Grandmother is âfullâ and marries a White man, your mother is â1/2â. She marries a White man, youâre â1/4â. Etc etc.
Itâs a tactic used to erase us on paper, hence âpaper genocideâ. You can be born on a Rez, be living in your culture, and not have âenough bloodâ to legally register with your own Nation. Itâs another way for the government to erase us. If you shrink the population on paper, it makes it harder for you to reconnect if youâre displaced for whatever reason. It basically annihilates the Third Generation Rediscovery Phenomenon (which I can explain in another post if you like).
