1) Historically distortive but a people think a lot of it is real-ish
2) Romanticizes colonization
3) Savages. I understand that that song was meant to show both sides (and honestly as an adult it slaps and is chilling), but kids should not be exposed to a slur that young. At best, it’s racially insensitive
4) (in the sequel) Acts like it was her choice to leave behind her family and that others of her Nation willingly left as well, and one even chose to stay in Europe of his own free will
5) Man centered. Literally was willing to risk her entire Nation. For a man.

Basically, it’s “how Indian” you are by blood.
So if your Grandmother is “full” and marries a White man, your mother is “1/2”. She marries a White man, you’re “1/4”. Etc etc.
It’s a tactic used to erase us on paper, hence “paper genocide”. You can be born on a Rez, be living in your culture, and not have “enough blood” to legally register with your own Nation. It’s another way for the government to erase us. If you shrink the population on paper, it makes it harder for you to reconnect if you’re displaced for whatever reason. It basically annihilates the Third Generation Rediscovery Phenomenon (which I can explain in another post if you like).
