5 Small Devs & Upcoming Games to Support
I like watching people make games, and therefor I end up following a lot of games before they're finished. Here's a few devs I've been watching learning to program or some indie projects I've been watching be put together.
Goodlandia isn't exactly a game, but just kinda Icoso's thing. He makes goobs, and then he practices his programming and game developing skills using the goobs. He's made a goobmaker, and small roguelike just recently, but you can watch his endeavors on his Youtube channel.
Whether he's showing off world generation, or a simulated ecosystem, I really like his humor. The goobs themselves are very cute too.
Darkbound is an upcoming retro style survival horror where you play as a cat navigating some kind of hospital. The graphics are very ps2 reminiscent and quite beautiful. It's left a good impression on me, as I can be quite picky about games I choose to follow
(cough cough I'm some cozy gacha slop youtuber cough cough)
Yes, it's whishlistable on Steam
Wishbones Games started Vermin as a competition piece that he actually one some handy-dandy money for, but his fans loved it so much, they begged and begged for a complete version.
Ever since he's been developing and posting in depth and interesting videos following his development of Vermin, and his commentary and thoughts on horror gaming in general.
I'm a huge sucker for games of this aesthetic style, and love his dedication. His taste in visuals is phenomenal, and his attention to detail is insane. You can tell he really enjoys game development, every facet of it.
This one is also wishlistable on Steam
Jess::Codes & Plant Tales
This developing game is so cute, and the music so far is amazing. Jess::Codes is a plant lover through and through. If you like Stardew Valley of Fields of Mistria you should supervise this one on your steam wishlist. The main focus in this game isn't just farming, but specifically plant cultivation.
Jess::Codes is a great pixel artist, and from watching her develop through her videos, she seems pretty experienced. I'm confident in her abilities, and very excited for this one.
Moonshire has been in development for awhile as a passion project for Challacade, and is inspired by the 2D Zelda games. It's a SNES/DS style game, and it captures that nostalgic feeling perfectly. The gameplay is polished, there's a demo out, and the animation is fantastic.
