Enjoy the classic Indian snack, onion pakodas, without the guilt of deep frying. These oil-free pakodas are crispy and delicious, perfect for snacking or as an appetizer.
Instructions: Put the rice flour, cumin seeds, red chili powder, turmeric powder, salt, and chickpea flour in a bowl. When you add the thinly sliced onions to the flour mixture, make sure the onions are well covered with the spice mix. Slowly add water to the mixture while stirring it all the time until you get a thick batter that covers the onions evenly. For 5 minutes, heat your air fryer up to 180C 360F. Spray cooking spray or oil spray on the air fryer basket to make it oily. Spoon small amounts of the onion mix into the air fryer basket, being careful not to pack them too closely together. The onion pakodas should be cooked in an air fryer set to 180C 360F for 10 to 12 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy. As they cook, you might need to shake the basket or flip them over once or twice. Take the onion pakodas out of the air fryer and put them on a paper towel to soak up any extra oil. Put it on the table hot with your favorite sauce or chutney.
