Thiruvalluvar Statue

The Bara Imambara is one the grandest of all the other Imambaras in the country. It has three halls known by different names. The central hall is known as the Persian hall and is the largest one. The interesting fact to know is that the large Persian hall was built without any columns. Its arched roof does not have a single beam or girder. It is said to be the largest building of the world without any pillar support. Not even a single wood or iron was used during its construction. It is truly a fine illustration of intelligence and one of the technological achievement built under the Nawabs of Awadh. The roof of the central hall is supported by the arched passageways of the Bhulbhulayia or Labyrinth. The passageways and corridors of Labyrinth were so built as to create air cushions that would support the weight of the vault. .
