Why celebrate Independence Day when so many people still do not have rights.
There is still more to fight for. Fight for women, fight for POC, fight for the LGBTQ.
We are at war. We are not free.

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY!!
I know, I rant about this every year and it never gets much traction, but I’m going to do it again.
No one ever says “Merry December 25th” or “Happy April 4th”. Even a goofy made-up holiday like Groundhog Day gets called by name. So why has one of the most important holidays for this country been relegated to being called by the date, and not what it actually is? Do you think this is accidental (especially in an era when children are not taught U.S. history in schools any more). In a recent survey and alarming number of Americans (especially under 30) couldn’t say what the significance of the 4th day of July was. This would explain why no one balked at the newly passed “Juneteenth” holiday being referred to as “National Independence Day”; because no one remembered that we ALREADY HAVE AN INDEPENDENCE DAY.
So from now on, PLEASE, take an extra second and say the words.
Say it loud.
Say it proud.
HAPPY INDEPENDAENCE DAY!!!!
Thank you.
