Wikipedia checks aren't research

Protip: don't correct the author, in person or in a review, based on 1) what Oliver Stone did in "Alexander," 2) what Mary Renault did in her novels, or 3) what Wikipedia says.

I can (and will) quote you the ancient sources and/or current research behind said-detail, and/or tell you exactly why I made the change based on modern fictional narrative necessities.

Also, while I'm at it, where Mary Renault's Fire from Heaven and Dancing with the Lion relate the same event...that's because it's in Plutarch or Diodoros or Justin or Athenaeus. I didn't "steal" it. By contrast, Oliver Stone *did* steal the snake Philip-assaults-Olympias scene in "Alexander." Renault made that up; it's not in any ancient source but is where Fire from Heaven opens.

(Yes, sometimes I get snarky.)

Also, that works in reverse. Don't use Dancing with the Lion to correct somebody else's story either. What you cite might be my own authorial license. Always check the original sources/academic articles. ;-)
