After waiting in a que for over an hour in and out of rain and below 50 degree temperature - This photo serves as a reminder of all the things we want to have in common yet we are also so far apart. #inaguration2017
14th and K Street NW on the other end of "The Safe Zone.” This side was a bit more civil with both protesters and Trump supporters in smaller screaming matches. Although there was a bit of pushing and shoving, there was far less media and the riot police left the line to the National Guard. Looking at the men in this photo was an awakening - they all looked younger than 25 years old. They all signed on for a very important mission and sacrificed all to protect all Americans. This presented a moment of clarity - we are all Americans and some of us sacrifice a lot for the many and consider themselves to come second. Further, the use of the military is an amazing and awesome power - one could only hope the lives of the young men and women and all they offer will only be for the right reasons.
