What are your thoughts on the legends surrounding Inagami? With it being an elder dragon, and having the intelligence to use simple tools, do you think there's some truth to the stories? If you're not in the know about them, they can be summarized fairly easily.
Supposedly, Inagami were once seen as benevolent deities, who would bring fertility and especially help villages grow crops during times of famine. Then people got greedy, and wanted more, hoping to force an inagami to use its plant-controlling abilities against its will. Since then the species has guarded forests from humans with the immense ferocity they currently display.
I can believe them, considering I've had a run in with one in the past. It wasn't a fight, mind you--just a confrontation because it found me and wanted me out--and to this day I've never seen a creature look at me with such hatred in its eyes.
There's definitely something behind them, and I know how terrible we humans can be. I know what we're capable of, and I know that monsters that powerful won't just sit idly by as their brethren are slaughtered and exploited. Elder dragons are smart. Smarter than most are comfortable admitting. They hold grudges and never forget the faces of those who wronged them. If there's anything an Inagami would hate, it'd be us.

You read the stories and then feel the malice upon facing one, it would be easy to ignore it as being natural hostility displayed by other beasts if it weren’t so focused, so personal. In a hunt, a monster will swipe and try to drive you away - fighting does not benefit them.Â
But with Inagami, it’s a grudge. A grudge so well ingrained into them as a species that there is no apologies that can be made. There’s no reconciliation, no closure.
It will kill you for what others have done, and that will be it.
