This oddly-proportioned crab now goes by the name of Leach's spider crab (Inachus phalangium). However, it appears to have been known as Stenorhynchus phalangium before 1934.

In the wild, these spider crabs live commensally with the sea anemone species Anemonia sulcata. The crabs live among the anemones and enjoy the protection of its stinging cells, much like Clownfishes.
