Record 2645. #JoeJackson #ImTheMan I went for some much needed retail therapy today. If you can believe it today was my first time back record shopping this year. I was meant to break the drought over the last couple of weekends on some trips away but I have been sick for the last few weeks which saw those events cancelled. Not Covid, just the good old fashioned flu, and it's been working on its potency over the last few years to match it's cousin. Seriously I haven't felt this sick in years and I'm still not fully recovered. But this medicine helped. I made a special mission to a secret fishing spot (no not that one), and with not a lot of time to shop, at first I thought I may be let down, not finding anything special that I don't already own. And then my heart skipped a beat when I saw the record. The first record I found in my haul. I've been hunting for this record for a while now, especially after being introduced on a few occasions by Thom Yorke and Ricky Gervais on DJ sets praising the beautiful and oh so clever "It's Different For Girls", which instantly became a favourite song of mine. Listening now to the album, it's all fantastic. See this is one of those albums that not every collector needs (except of course Thom and Ricky) but I was desperate to find this record, and even with a largish collection, the feeling and the rush is still very much alive when you find that missing piece you've been longing for. And that's what record collecting is all about.
