Damian didn’t have a crush on his father, but he hated how many people did.

He hated how shameless people were. How easily their eyes wander, how effortlessly their thoughts wandered farther.

Every time his Baba would drop him off at school he’d see their eyes lingers. The students; the staff, he cursed his small size, not being big enough to shield their lustful gazes from his father.

It didn’t stop at the staff, or the school, it felt like it was everyone at times. Every Gala, every charity ever, every public attraction. Even in his Baba’s hero work his Baba has lustful eyes on him. Lustful eyes Damian very much did not approve of.

Baba says he’s being silly. That he’s imagining things and looks that aren’t really there. Damian’s not fooled as easily as his Baba. After all, learning to read people was required in the League. He can read clearly that his Baba is only saying this because he doesn’t think he’s desirable enough for even one man’s gaze.

That irates him even more. His father is the prettiest man he’s ever met. Damian knows this as certain. His mother wouldn’t settle for anything less than perfection. Whoever put this ill idea into his Baba’s mind will be thoroughly punished once found.

This cycle of frustration confuses Damian. He’s repulsed by the idea of his Baba taking interest in one of these lecherous gazes. None of their filthy minds are worthy to even consider courting his father. However, his Baba not being able to see what’s in front of him frustrates him more. His Baba is pretty. Too lenient for how pretty he is. He needs guards for his heart. Too easily swayed by simple Acts of Services.

Damian decides to confront his siblings about the matter. They must have some knowledge of protecting Baba from libidinous men (and women).

Damian strides into the living room on a day Baba is out. He is fighting an out-of-world threat that requires all of the Justice League. Damian is typically against these missions, even the Justice League doesn’t know when to keep their hands to themselves (especially the kryptonian). However, Damian uses his Baba’s absence as an opportunity; it happens to be one of those rare days where multiple siblings of his are present.

Damian stands in front of the Tv, “I require everyone’s attention.”

Lazy eyes follow attentive ones until all the attention is on him.

Tim turns off the Tv, giving Damian his full attention, “Yes, Damian?”

Damian pauses for a moment before opening his mouth to speak until Jason until him off.

“Yoo-hoo? You have our attention? Ya’ gonna ask your question or not?” Jason asks impatiently, his attention split between his phone and the conversation.

Damian glares at him, “I’m getting there, Todd.” He looks around again, making sure all eyes were on him before posing his question: “How do you get people to stop looking at Father?”

The atmosphere in the room shifts. The brothers attention locks onto the question, immediately followed by darker eyes and tones. Possessive ones, almost. Suggesting they, too, are not found of people trying to take away their father.

Dick sits up from his lounging position “I used to be really obnoxious about it, making sure to hold his hand and call him “Papa” as much as I could in public. Once people realized he had a kid, they’d lose interest. That didn’t work for everyone though. When it didn’t, I’d hug Papa’s arm and fake cry.”

His tone suggests he’s being honest, but leaving something out. Damian’s eyes narrow.

Jason, also sits up, turning his phone off. “I’d keep him home as much as possible. Constantly busying him with somethin’ that needed to be done at home. I would pretend I was scared of going outside alone, making sure Pops was always by my side.”

Much like Dick’s, he’s being honest but he’s hiding something. Damian is not fond of the lack of a full answer.

Tim doesn’t bother beating around the bush, “Disposing of them effectively.”

The three turn to Tim with varying responses.

Dick’s eyes widen a bit, more suprised Tim has the guts to admit it than the admissions contents themselves.

Jason raises a brow of amusement and holds back a grin.

Damian’s head turns to look directly at Tim, his interest has been piqued.

Damian questions further, “Elaborate, Drake.”

Jason snickers, “Exposing the family secret so young, Timmy?”

Tim rolls his eyes, returning his attention to Damian, “We’d dispose of them. The ones who get too friendly.”

Dick adds on, “Not everyone can be handled that way, Dami. Only the ones who really get on our nerves… more than usual.”

“Anyone who father shows any signs of reciprocating feelings for,” Jason clarifies.

Damian pauses for a moment, “I see… and how do you all execute this method?”

Naturally, Damian’s interest and support of this method are in favor. This is necessary. His Baba needs to be protected, and Damian will do anything to ensure that. This was a solution he very much supports.

“First you find a target threat, then you report back to the group.”

“We work fast, before Pops even notices the feelings bloomin’, so you better be watching for any and every possible sign,” Jason adds.

Damian nods, “I understand… and then, Drake?”

“Then we find an area he won’t be remembered.”

“An alley way or incinerator works best!” Dick chimes.

“Understood.”

Jason grins, “We’ll fill you in on the specifics when we get there, Bat-Brat.”

Dick hugs Damian tightly, “Awww! Our Baby-Dami is growing up now!”

Damian’s cheeks faintly flush with humiliation, “Put me down, Grayson! I have only come to seek guidance on protecting Baba, not for your physical affections!”

Soon enough, Damian has become quite accustomed to this effective method. It isn’t nearly as efficient as he’d please, but it puts him at ease knowing he can do something about the particular pesky bugs suitors.

The only rule is to not let Baba know. Which is not an issue, as long as their Baba views them as angels, they’ll make sure all the dirty work is handled behind the scenes.

Baba will never have to worry about an unworthy companion. They’ll take care of him. They’ll protect him. They’ll never leave him. Their Baba’s image will be perfect. Their Baba is perfect, and if their Baba ever needs someone?

They’ll always be there. Not some random insect who thinks they can suddenly come into their family, because they don’t know the pain, the love, the grief, the trust, everything that it’s taken to get their Baba thriving how he is now. They’ll never know. They won’t let them.

There was a demon coming by the hotel, not to see if they were interested in the cause but to use up his friend's precious time.

Even now the beastly thing walked up to the check in counter and started up a conversation with you.

He watched from the bar.

"Hey! I see its dead as ever in here.", the dragon demon grinned as they leaned on the counter.

"Not true~", you had replied. "I checked in four new guests!"

Yes, you had a knack of persuasion. Able to convince many to do almost anything. Sometimes even him.

"Oh yeah? How many sinners walked in?", the scaled creature leaned close.

Far too close for his liking.

"I just told you how many.", you replied and placed a finger on the dragon's snout, pushing them back as well. "Personal space."

He didn't like this demon.

Everything about them set something off. Their manners, their way of speaking, the way they move-

"Oh come on, I don't bite sugar cake~", the beast took your hand and kissed their way up to your elbow.

"Nope!", you yanked your arm away and held it close. "None of that.", you laughed nervously with an uncomfortable smile.

It looked wrong. Your smile should be a happy one.

"I said I don't bite!", they laughed and tried to grab at your arm again. "You know I'm messing! When's your break?", they leaned over the counter, still trying to get at something to pull you closer. "I know a good bar to go to, or we can go to the club! I'd like to see your ass in something a little less-"

"Ew, no.", you rejected and backed away.

"Come on!", they started to climb on the counter. "Its just one time! I'll even help you get in and out of your clothes.", they grabbed onto your sleeve.

That's ENOUGH!

He quickly shadow traveled and snatched the wrist of the dragon.

"I believe they said no."

The beast growled with a sneer before looking at him, freezing up once realizing who had their wrist.

"I was just joking man. Haha..", the dragon looked between him and you. "I understand! I'll back away. The slut is yours."

"Excuse me!?", you said angrily.

His antlers grew, the low static that hummed now raising up in volume.

SNAP

He held the demon's snout shut as they screamed and cried over their broken wrist.

"Now, there is a no killing rule in the hotel.", he said and then grinned menacingly. "But that doesn't apply outside."

His smile widened after seeing the panic in their eyes.

"Dear.", he turned to face you. "Has this guest overstayed their welcome?"

You stared at the beast with such a terrifyingly hateful glare.

"Yes they have.", you replied, crossing your arms. "I'd like to keep a souvenir, for memories."

And then you gave him that lovely smile.

"Alastor, do you think you could get me a dragon eye or two? I hear they make nice details to things."

"I'll make sure to get them.", he released the demon, only for his tendrils to take hold of them. "I won't be long.", he reassured, lifting up your hand to kiss the back of it.

He saw you blush before he 'escorted' the demon outside.

After finishing up (and calling Niffty to clean up), he returned with two freshly picked dragon eyes.

You thanked him with an odd little gleam in your eyes. No doubt your mind jumping idea to idea of what you could create with them.

Now with the pest gone, he would have your attention again.

Just like he wanted

"Thank you Alastor. I'll be able to make something interesting with these."

"I can't wait to see what you make this time."

Perhaps he'll ask you that question sooner than later.

Unlike him, you miss the look Suguru gives you when you're complaining about morning sickness. Unlike him, you don't notice the way Satoru's hand presses on your belly, not just feeling the baby, but you too.

Unlike him, you miss the way they treat your daughter. it's almost....parental.

you don't understand his reasoning, but you love him, so you respect his wishes. slowly, you broaden the distance between them. you respond to their texts less and less. you are a little more insistent on going to minor check ups and appointments yourself. honestly, as much as you liked them, you have to admit that satoru and suguru were a bit too coddling. you've been through this before, you aren't fragile. you and your husband can handle the hard parts, they just need to focus on preparing for the baby.

they notice, but they don't mention it to you. they know it's not your fault.

a couple weeks later, your husband leaves.

he doesn't even take anything. none of his clothes are gone, none of his shoes. Just his wallet.

You don’t get it. Nothing makes sense. If you weren’t so distraught, you might have realized the note doesn’t 100% match your husband’s handwriting. You might have realized the note doesn’t match your husband at all.

Satoru and suguru are eager to distract you from that. It’s back to status quo, accept they’re a little more touchier, a little more fussier. You watch how well they get along with your daughter. When they insist on moving into their lavish penthouse you can’t help but acquiesce.

When Suguru finally kisses you, Satoru’s eyes just as heavy, you can’t help but give in.

Soon the sun would peak its rays out and break the dark, slowly heating up the cold halls that made you shudder. Though it wasn’t the slightly cold rooms that made you move quickly, no.

Whumper pulled the plastic bag over the struggling Whumpee's head. But with their hands tied back, there wasn't much to resist. Whumper easily avoided their teeth. Sealed them off.

And with a firm rasp of the zip tie, the plastic started to fog up on the inside rapidly.

Caretaker watched in horror as Whumpee's eyes widened. How the plastic pulled against their lips as they gasped. He snapped forward again, his own chains keeping him secure. And as the metal dug into his skin, so did despair sink in.

Whumper casually walked towards him. "Now, then," he said again, and squatted next to Caretaker, making sure not to block his view. "Now we can talk. And as you can see, you don't have an awful lot of time to give me the answers I want."
