This story has some pretty apt timing for me. With yesterday being the anniversary of my wife's passing, I've been doing a lot of thinking on my own mortality. I learned that dwelling on it and letting it eat away in the back of my mind can cause some pretty stupid mistakes, one of which may have cost me one of my very best friends outside of Tumblr. Hopefully one day I will be able to make amends for my mistakes. So long as there is time, there is hope.

Sorry if this had little to do with the tale, it's just been weighing on my mind.

I’m not sure if anyone’s talked about this yet, but in the “Shadow of Evil”, when Splinter gets those visions/flashbacks(?) from looking at the Foot Clan symbol and the scroll of Shredder. Most notably these scenes:

Why does Splinter get these pictures in his head? Are they premonitions of what’s to come or are they flashbacks?

Was this some sort of sense that his family has whenever anything Foot related appears? Is he seeing what his ancestors experienced firsthand? Also, from the looks of it, I don’t think Splinter has actually SEEN Foot Brute and Foot Lieutenant since that episode before. So when Splinter’s ancestor took down the Shredder, were Lieutenant and Brute there??? It’s already clear that they aren’t human. Are they immortal too? Did the Shredder grant them immortality for their servitude to him? Is that what the purple energy that Shredder spewing is?

Actually, while finding out that the Litch King was all too real, did sting, the true jolt was finding out that the part of his Holy Truth of Celestia about the demon infested afterlife might be true!

You know, it's really sad that Sawnax would rather die than be a good person. It must just be in his nature and upbringing to be a nasty cheat. Honestly, I'm surprised he didn't turn Grumpy down on the faster healing because of it.

You are spot on. From colthood on, he was always the bully and cheat. For him, life is a game with a winner and losers. And he's the winner, no matter how much he needs to cheat to do it!
