Who am I?
What are we? Or more aptly put, Who are we? Asians? Nah. When Russians are reluctant to be called North Asians, why should we be regarded as South Asians or simply Asians? Are we Indians? No. Not at all. Or at least, thatâs not what âIndiansâ consider themselves as. We are Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Christians and what not! But no, we arenât Indians.
Now, Does âIndiansâ not being âIndiansâ making any difference? Why does that even matter to us? Â
Because itâs you whoâll sip on a cup of coffee on a sunday morning reading stories about a riot that turned a thousand people homeless and exclaim, âNothing can change this nation!â.Â
âWhat does that even have to do with me being an Indian or not?âÂ
Well, It has a lot to do. When you are just an Indian, and not an Indian, you donât seem to bother. The reason being, âIâm not an Indian, why should India bother me?âÂ
You say that the country canât change. It can. How? Be an Indian. Being born in India doesnât make you an Indian. Being brought up here doesnât do any wonders, too. So, how exactly do you be an Indian?Â
Be loyal. Be willing to do something. Donât just sit with hands crossed. Raise them. Thatâs what theyâre meant for. Whenever you can, just stand and inspire. Thatâs what this country needs to change. It needs inspirations. If you do that, then youâre an Indian...Â
