Reliance in seeking provision
Imam, al-Shafi‘i , رحمه الله, said :
توكلت في رزقي على الله خالقي
I relied, regarding my provision, upon الله , my Creator.
وأيقنت أن الله لا شك رازقي
And I was certain that الله , without doubt, is my Provider.
وما يكن من رزقي فليس يفوتني
And whatever is from my provision will not escape me.
ولو كان في قاع البحار العوامق
Even if it were in the bottom of the deep seas.
سيأتي به الله العظيم بفضله
Allah , the Most Great, will bring it by His bounty.
ولو لم يكن مني اللسان بناطق
Even if the tongue were not speaking from me. (Even if my tongue were unable to speak.)
ففي أي شيء تذهب النفس حسرة
So over which thing should the soul waste away in regret?
وقد قسم الرحمن رزق الخلائق
When the Most Merciful has already apportioned the provision of all creation.
